The point was that biological parameters are not point estimates in the population in reality, but a reflection of a distribution of parameters that are pushed around by many forces.

The strong directional evidence is as much as you would expect to see in biologically plausible human data. Nobody would ever predict that a transperson's brain would like exactly like that of their identified gender, as that would be a biologically implausible shift in parameters.

Now, in a tightly controlled setting where all else is being held equal, yes. And that's pretty much what is observed in rodents.

It's like, all these amazing new studies could have saved time and money by asking trans people first. But they don't.

Generally, studies are interested in getting information from as close to the source as possible. So it makes more sense to ask the group they're interested in the results from "would you date a trans person?", than asking trans people "do you think a cis person would date you?"

Now, if the study was instead focused on how transgender people themselves feel they're perceived, rather than whether cisgender people would date them or not, that's another matter, and indeed in that case they should be talking to trans people.

Similarly, yes, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a cosmetic change (in terms of what it actually is at the end of the day, a surgically modified penis). It's perfectly fine for someone to be attracted to you, and I would not classify it as "gay" for someone to have sex with you. I will gladly call you female with no hesitation, but that does not change the base biological reality. If that is not an issue for some people, all the power to them.
