It had the opposite effect on me. The older I get and the busier my summers are, the harder the story hits me on an emotional level. Legit hated the thing when I first played it.

Riku is kinda getting the short end of the stick in this game. He's getting the shorter worlds, his worlds have more generic spirit bosses while Sora gets unique bosses. Riku didn't even GET a boss in the second Traverse Town visit

I guess I'm weird in that I don't mind slow-paced prologues. I don't have a problem with Persona 4's either.

Yeah, generally Sora's worlds are better, but he has a deeper connection to all of this stuff than Riku does.

Riku makes up for it later though.

KH2's prologue was also crazy in that it was way ahead of its time as a precursor to the short narrative vignette games that the western indie scene popularized 5+ years later. Especially since it's a japanese AAA and not even japanese indies were making games like that (although you could argue it took a lot from VNs). It did force some combat and "gameplay" in there which diluted it, but it was still super forward thinking.
