OK, so in the KH world you can travel to the past if a past version of you exists at that point in time? And since Ansem, Seeker of Darkness was there in Destiny Islands in the beginning KH1 that means Xehanort can travel to that point in time?

basically

you can only travel in time to a point where you already exist, although Xehanort is trying to circumvent it by creating all these copies of himself

Also if you go to the future youll end up forgetting everything you see but it will lock you in to that path.

It is really dumb that every time I die to a boss I have to wait for my abilities to charge when I retry the fight

Finally. That fight wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for Ansem's big black balls that kept slapping me around. Thankfully, the hot tub penguin pulled through with the heals

I'm not beating Young Xehanort anytime soon. Why does this fight have to be so long? It seems like it is at least two full bosses in one. Of course he does the annoying combos that stunlock you too.

I can't believe I'll actually have to grind now. I hate having to do that, but I guess I'm too low level. I can barely survive the first part of the fight, ESPECIALLY since I have to wait like a minute to do anything while my abilities recharge at the beginning of every fight.

I said earlier it's been awhile for me so I don't 100% remember but I don't think I had to grind for that fight. I DO remember it being tough though.

You just need to fight more defensively against him, especially the second phase.

I don't even know what is happening in the second phase, I die so fast. I've never liked blocking in KH games, the block feels so slow and unresponsive.

oh yea that might be the issue

Dodging is my bread and butter in games but KH2 REALLY teaches you "hey yea consider learning how to block for some fights", it can make the difference once you get the pattern down right. And honestly it's pretty satisfying being able to block consistently.

Besides that, if I do block against Young Xehanort he just keeps going with his combos and eventually some part of it is going to stunlock me anyway if I just stand around trying to block. It seems like there's supposed to be some kind of tell for when you can actually attack him, but I don't quite understand it yet. Of course, this is all for the first phase which doesn't even matter.

I dunno. I didn't find his first phase to be that difficult to read and react to. The second one is much tougher. You pretty much have to block until a wave ends, and then you have a brief period of time to go all out before the next wave begins.

The first part is pretty much fine. I get more close calls then I would like during it, but I can usually get to the second phase without much trouble.

I might wind up grinding a bit, not for levels but to get Dark Firaga from this hot tub penguin since I am pretty close to getting it. I don't know if Young Xehanort is the last boss so let me ask this: if I switch around my commands for this fight, is there a chance that could screw me over afterwards as far as having to fight another boss right after him?

Really though it's just as effective to get better at the action part of the series than need to grind out the RPG parts if you hate grinding that bad (I do).

Also using Water Barrels or toys will help you unlock abilities faster than grinding.

I dont want to grind so Ill have to check out those toys

Btw if it's the PS4 version, you can start the water barrel mini-game and quit immediately. You'll still get points and it's faster than playing it.

So that was really good!! With the exception of Ansem 2 and a couple of the early worlds there really wasn't too many bad points. I do really like how much attention Riku got at the end. Mysterious Purple Cloak Man or whatever he was called and Young Xehanort were really cool fights (I'll chalk up my earlier difficulty with him to not properly leveling up my spirits). The last fight against evil ventus wasn't really anything, maybe that's because I'm a lot more used to using flowmotion and that fight seemed very flowmotion-focused.
