I just kind of love that the series up to that point was all about "My friends are my power!" especially in regards to Sora and then this game goes "no get fucked"

I expect 3 to go right back to "My friends are my power!" but at least for DDD it feels really nice. And Riku getting to shine and REALLY come into his own.

My number one issue with this game might be that if you retry fights your abilities all start uncharged so you have to wait for them to come back. I really don't understand why that is, it's extremely annoying.

You know, when I heard about all the "everyone is Xehanort" jokes bout KH I always thought they were exaggerating. Like, yeah there's a couple version of him and some are retconned being being him but like, it's not THAT many. I'm extremely glad to learn not only were those jokes true but somehow undersold how many Xehanorts they are. I love it!

There's absolutely no way Nomura planned any of this ahead of time, but damn if he didn't do a good job identifying his overused tropes in clothes and accessories and turning them in to plot points.

Yeah but the whole game revolves around the command deck and it's factual that using the Keyblade is worse than just spamming commands 95% of the time. They broke the regular combat in a bad way in this game.

On combat yes, you can attack by pressing X but for real that's not how BBS/DDD are designed to play. Ideal setup in both those games boils down to a chain of broken commands you can cycle through with zero cooldown and literally never use the basic attack. It can be quite fun in a broken silly way but it's not very good objectively.

What do you think of the framerate? I thought it was complete garbage, and it almost made the game completely unplayable, but I'm using the standard PS4.

It honestly makes me worried how well Kingdom Hearts 3 will play. I did play the KH3 demo, and it seemed pretty smooth, but I'm pretty sure it was on PS4 Pro systems. I would be really disappointed if the final game played like 0.2 does, but I'm hoping that it's just that this was essentially a "demo" game and that's the reason it has framerate problems.

0.2 on Pro has an uncapped framerate and bounces between high 30s and 50s, which is why it looks super jank to some folks, myself included. I'm sure KH3 will eventually come to PC so I'm not worried about legacy, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at least a little disappointed that my first experience with the game I've been anticipating for a decade is going to be on hardware that can't really handle it.

Wow really? I guess playing the series as it's been released is a different experience considering it's been over the course of 16 years, but the Ray of Hope Mix used in 0.2 was the first remix of the song since the original. As far as I remember, the original had Simple and Clean, Planet-b Remix, and the orchestrated version and that's it. I was so excited when I first heard the new remix and I love it!

All right, I think I'm just about done with KH Final Mix. I went and got the Speedster and Unchanging trophies, and cleared up all the bonus bosses. I wasn't even sure if I wanted to do them since Proud mode was harder than I expected, but they were a bit easier than I remembered as a kid. Except for Sephiroth, although I blame the lack of MP Rage for that one.

Also, screw Unknown. It's one thing to have a difficult boss that has hard moves to avoid and counter, but playing that fucking roulette wheel garbage was bullshit. I was ready to just ignore it if it wasn't for that Magic command exploit. It doesn't really feel like a legitimate bonus boss if the only real reason it's hard is because they throw in some random menu nonsense to fuck you over. I can't wait for KH3 to have a bonus boss that forces you to solve Sudoku in the middle of a battle or else you'll die or something.
