Arguing about Naruto sure was a weird nostalgic feeling, but its probably best I stop since it might be annoying to people soon if it isnt already and Id prefer to make more positive posts.

Its technically Friday now so either in the morning or at night Ill check out some more stuff. At the very least Ill watch Cells At Work and Harukana Receive. I havent even seen some of the others on Crunchy so Im assuming theyre HiDive or Amazon or whatever else exclusive. I dont really know. I wish whenever places picked up an anime the seasonal anichart would list who is simulcasting them to make it easier

Man between Amazon and HiDive thats a lot of shows I cant check out. I mean I could try, but my laptop isnt in the best condition with how old it is and the fact I never even use it at all anymore. I think when I read Fate/Stay Night was the last time I even used it

I guess I was due for a controversial opinion, but I really didn't like Death Parade. There were a few things I appreciated about it by the end, enough that I didn't hate it, but for the most part it was just too grim and edgy for me. I also didn't agree with the philosophical stance the world was based on but I guess I should tag those thoughts.

It started off on the wrong foot for me when it seemed like it was treating people's "darkness" as something inherent to their souls. Like that doctor in the first episode never would've freaked out if he hadn't heard something super coincidentally specific that made him think his wife was cheating on him (and, you know, if she wasn't actually cheating on him). Put that dude's soul into another life where another of an infinite set of possibilities would happen and he might've been fine. Same for the wife, and same for everyone really. Even the murderous detective was an upstanding citizen by all accounts until a random event broke him. If you'll permit me some pointless philosophizing, if we even have souls I believe they're nothing more than a foundation and the things we encounter are what truly shape us. I just couldn't get behind the whole judgment setup where they were treating it like there actually was a right or wrong answer to any of this.

Though, to the show's credit, it actually went on to explore this theme more than I expected it to. Chiyuki rightfully pointed out that he was forcing people into extreme situations and (duh) making them react in extreme ways, just like almost anyone would. It didn't necessarily say anything about their souls. It was nice seeing the story reach that same conclusion, I guess, but I was still left with the feeling that it kind of invalidated all the stories that came before it and made the whole series a little pointless. Especially since nothing really changed in the end. I dunno, all that world-building never really went anywhere.

When I first saw the premise, I hoped this would be something more like helping people come to terms with the lives that they lived so they could move on to whatever comes next. That's what Chiyuki's arc wound up being about and I thought that whole thing was beautiful, especially the skating scene where she relived her memories. I wanted more of that and less endless twists about how one person was actually more terrible than the other (also terrible) person because fate shit on them.

At the very least I hope we can all agree that the OP was amazing.

Wow I cant believe they didnt inform you. Hopefully you dont use the same info on multiple things. If so you might want to check and make sure nobody was using other stuff

I guess the "good" thing is I use paypal on crunchyroll so I don't have any credit card information saved and my paypal login information isn't the same.

I favor keepass explicitly because it's entirely local and has no cloud integration, meaning I'm not relying on somebody else's services to secure or access my passwords.

If you want cloud (for easy syncing between devices), Lastpass is good I guess? I'm not particularly knowledgable about it though. I consider cloud integration/service an explicit anti-feature so I ignore it as a matter of course.

I was disappointed that Dabi was just gonna leave after that cliffhanger, but then the reveal that HAWKS WAS EVIL was cool. But then the scene felt kind of underwhelming with him just saying stuff like "ALL FOR THE LEAGUE" and oh he's a double agent of course. Love the final scene with Dabi that's some great characterization.

Ah, sorry, I tried to get it across without too much whining but I really hated several of the episodes and most of the rest were just boring. The fact that one overarching plot thread wound up being pretty good wasn't enough to save it for me overall.

Also, is judging from extraordinary situations that really a common enough plot setup to deserve being subverted? Off the top of my head I can only think of this and maybe the Saw movies.

I was thinking even things like Twilight Zone count.

There doesn't have to be actual character hosts rigging things, but the point of those shows is often to show some side of humanity based on some outrageous trials and tribulations the protagonist finds themselves in.

So like in a meta sense.

Ended up dropping Happy Sugar Life. I think I need to be in a very specific mood to enjoy something this unabashedly stupid, and that doesn't really work week-to-week, since I was just extremely annoyed at everything this episode was doing.

Also, Grand Blue episode 2 was a bit better!

I'm still enjoying Happy Sugar Life but, yeah, you have to be in the mood for crazy people doing crazy things. I think it's pretty impressive that they're managing to keep a steady tone that's neither too grim nor too happy, which is perfect for me even if it won't necessarily be for everyone.

I also agree that Grand Blue ep 2 was indeed a bit better, though I still wouldn't call it good. It just became tolerable instead of annoying.

Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs ep1 - Almost every girl in the OP is cuter than this main ghost girl. So random thought after seeing MCs design. You think characters who wear bandage wraps on their arms all the time think its cool or something? I imagine it would just be kinda itchy and uncomfortable. Oh hey not bad butt representation so far. This is Jump, but it still feels like the anime is censoring stuff that might be uncensored on bluray or maybe a different network. MC has a scar on his cheek in his childhood flashback, but its not there in the present. Guess its gonna main boob service over ass smdh. This was pretty stupid, but not offensive.

Cells At Work ep1 - haha this was great. Kana Hanazawa as a cute red blood cell girl oh ya. White Blood Cell guy is cool too. I kinda wish he had a name instead of numbers so it would be easier for me to remember. Im not sure if red blood cell girl even had a number name now that I think about it. Anyways looking forward to more of this one. Im glad it didnt disappoint.

A lot of these shows have tons of ads for stuff on Crunchy. What the fuck is VRV? It seems like some sorta streaming service maybe? I dont know, but they have an ad for it like every episode I watch
