I didn't have any problems with the dialogue or character interactions. Obviously they were all focused on facilitating the gags (most of which I also enjoyed) but that was the focus of the anime so I didn't mind. I dunno, difference of opinion I suppose.

As for me never seeming to comment on writing, I'm not sure if this is even what you mean but I guess I don't tend to comment on it specifically. Everything other than animation and voice acting ultimately comes down to the writing so something like 'the writing was good' doesn't say much. I prefer to comment on aspects I liked that reflect on the writing, and in the case of Anne-Happy that was the unique premise and how the plot always found new ways to have their poor luck ruin things.

Also started watching fairy tail

I like the characters but the fights suck so far

Two dudes just charge directly at each other and then do a special attack and someone wins five seconds later

Fairy Tail has a rough budget at the start. I think it takes a little bit before it gets better in that aspect, but not too long. Some of the fights are pretty great even if a lot end the same way.

As for Majikoi I cant really get back to it unless somebody wants to buy me a new laptop or PC so uh :(

As for DanMachi I can watch it. Ive just been checking out ep1s for old times sake and also to see what I will want to bother marathoning when the season is done

Yeah, most people consider the soundtrack to be pretty incredible. The second season has a different studio and doesnt have the amazing music though so that sucks.

Angolmois ep1 - I was cautiously optimistic about this one and it ended up being pretty good! The beginning with the rain was nice to watch and the fighting looks like it will be pretty great if this episode is anything to go by. Also doesnt censor the violence so thats a plus. Definitely one Ill watch more of.

Fairy Tail is actually kinda fine for the first 50 episodes or so.

It's never good, but the arcs are short enough and the cast actually isn't overused yet.

Asobi Asobase ep1 - Oh wow this one is like the opposite of how I felt about Angolmois. I was hoping this one would be good stuff, but only the last skit was any good. Most of the faces were just bad/annoying instead of being funny. The last skit was funny enough to not make it a drop, but Im hoping it gets better. That teacher licking the wet puddle outside the classroom he was told was a girls piss to find out the real truth Detective Conan style (Im pretty sure thats who the cameo reference silhouette was of) was amazing. The disappointed face he had after finding out it was water was also great. The ED was nice surprise. Uh the post credits scene was...a surprise too I guess. What a fucking weird episode

I watched a second episode of Dropkick. I give everything three episodes, but in a rare case, I'm dropkicking this one after two. It's just not good.

I actually thought the second episode of Dropkick was a step up (albeit from 2/10 to 4/10, but still!) and I'm hoping it keeps it up. Getting some backstory for a few characters helped a ton and subtle jokes like Jashin picking the lemon flavor really worked for me.

I just don't like the protags. They're terrible people. Especially Snake. And the side cast doesn't really have much going on either. And it's like, I feel like nothing really happened, if that makes sense. I don't know exactly how to put it.

Oh I'm not defending it at all, I'd drop it too if I had any sense. I just felt like commenting on episode two. The main characters certainly are a bunch of jerks.

My taste is still there. The episode just wasnt very funny until the end. It seems to rely way too much on dumb facial expressions too sadly

Asobi Asobase definitely could stand to tone down the dumb faces but I never felt like it was relying on them too much. The comedy for me was always in the absurd extremes and character interactions.

As we've often said here before though, humor really is subjective. I still prefer Chio over Asobi this season.

Oh yes DanMachi summer waifu banners. My 18,000 summon currency can finally be spent!

I've finally finished Brave Witches and man did it ever suck. Like, I didn't love Strike Witches to begin with but this spinoff was measurably worse in every way. A lot of these problems are fundamental to the franchise (the Nueroi are mindless, aimless blob-shaped foes and those are super boring) but Strike Witches was at least kind of fun. The characters were always flat, but even after just the first season of Strike Witches I knew their primary gimmicks and their names.

Brave Witches, by comparison, I honestly couldn't say anything meaningful for several of those girls, and I hated two of the few they actually bothered to develop, which didn't help. The comedic moments weren't funny, and the battles were poorly animated and never carried any tension or excitement. Like, Strike Witches at least had a few neat moments, Brave Witches had zero. Anyway I could go on but I think I've made my point.

Pointless story time: the whole reason I even started this franchise was because I liked Yuki Yuna's voice actress and a character in this was one of the few other meaningful roles she's had. I started with Strike Witches, which wasn't great so I took a long break, and now that I finally watched Brave Witches... she voices the shy character who barely talks. I got trolled hard.
