SoJ's detention center theme (well, the Japanifornia version) is so good. Right up there with T&T for the best one in the series.

6-2 does a couple things with Trucy right off the bat that moved her up my character rankings. First, she tells you the truth about her magic trick immediately without needing to twist her arm about it. Second, she finally shows her vulnerable side, and the fact that it's to Apollo specifically is pretty significant in my book. Phoenix says in 4-4 that he's the only one who knows that side of her, so for her to show it to someone else is a huge deal.

Also, Trucy has officially passed Franziska, and Athena will pass Kay pretty soon.

I feel like they kind of waste Apollo vs. Nahyuta by having it so early before you learn anything about their relationship. They're both so guarded that neither one lets their feelings show. The only thing you glean from 6-2 is that they know each other somehow.

Yeah I agree with this. The weirdest thing about 6-2 is that of 6-2, 6-3, and 6-4, Nahyuta is at his least interesting by far in 6-2 and he has less chemistry with Apollo there than he does with Phoenix and Athena as opponents in 6-3 and 6-4.

It reminds me of how Apollo and Blackquill have GREAT chemistry in 5-2 despite not being natural rivals

Yeah, and they tried to have them square off in 6-5 after everything's been revealed, but it doesn't really work there either for various reasons.

I think they held onto too much of the Apollo/Nahyuta mystery for too long when there was never really a need to. Like, they don't tell you SHIT in 6-2, and then in 6-3 they reveal that Apollo was Nahyuta's adoptive brother, and then we literally start 6-5 right out the gate knowing what Apollo, Dhurke, and Nahyuta's relationship is. There was no reason at all not to let some of that fuel their relationship in 6-2 because it isn't really used as a plot twist later so they withheld it for no reason.

also it never really occurred to me until just now but I wonder if they kept Ema's fingerprint data in 6-2 the same as the one in 1-5

Hmm...If you examine stuff where Ema talks on the stage even after she's left, she shows up to talk. Usually AA is pretty good about avoiding that kind of inconsistency.

I have an unreasonable amount of love for Bonny's animation where she pulls up her hat, only for there to be no rabbit underneath. Then she looks up at the empty hat for a couple seconds, takes a sidelong glance at you, and then immediately goes back to bouncing happily like nothing happened.

It's so good.

I really love pretty much all of Bonny's animations. She's probably the character I love just watching the most. My favorite is when Betty keeps bumping into her and she just stands there with this depressing look on her face as she looks around the room. I could watch that one for an hour.

I love their big reveal during the trial where they appear on the prosecutor's and defense's benches, and then where they make it look like Betty is levitating...except you can clearly see Bonny's hands holding her up underneath.

Trucy: You're just letting me have it? What's come over you all of a sudden?
Apollo: (If it'll take her mind off things for a bit, why not let her have a little fun with it?)
Trucy: Oh, I see how it is! Throwing down the gauntlet, are you, Polly? Fine then. In that case, why don't I make the money vanish from your wallet?
Apollo: Ha ha ha. My money will disappear on its own when I take you out for a treat after this trial. Ramen at Eldoon's Noodles, cake--anything you want!
Trucy: ...That's it? No sarcastic barb at the end? Are you sure you're feeling all right?
Apollo: (Huh? Did I say something wrong?)

seriously let Trucy go overseas for college in Khura'in or something so we can get this duo together again

Take-2 TV is a fun little location that's ultimately not all that relevant to the case, but Apollo and Athena have some good exchanges here.

Athena: I've always wanted to give gambling a try!
Apollo: It's not worth it. Besides, you're not even old enough to gamble in most states yet.
Athena: That's all right. I get to experience it enough in court guessing whether you'll win or lose the case on any given day.
Apollo: Thanks for the vote of confidence.
Athena: Don't worry, Apollo. I only bet on winners and I haven't lost yet!

I like that Apollo's ringtone is the Guitar's Serenade, and he has a Bum Rap Rhiny strap on his phone as a callback to Juniper.

They really sell the end of the investigation day well with Retinz coming in to seize everything, followed by the phone call with Phoenix.

Phoenix: I've been watching you grow over these past two years. That's why I can say, with absolute confidence...that you'll be fine.
Apollo: R-Really?
Phoenix: I've seen you earn victory after victory in some pretty dicey situations and guide Athena--helping her along her way, too. That's why I know you're ready, why I know I can leave Trucy and the office to you. I believe in you, Apollo.
Apollo: Th-Thank you, Mr. Wright...

Athena: What is it, Apollo? What are you smiling about?
Apollo: Who, me? I-It's nothing...(Mr. Wright believes in me. I-I can't let him down!)

Have a new young defense attorney join the Wright agency in the next game and have them be Athena's junior (so presumably someone in purple or green or maybe pink) then have the whole game mostly about Athena coming to her own (probably with Psyche in the title).
Then have Athena settle her own law office. Then next game, repeat the cycle and so on until Phoenix is like 80 and dying.

I just replayed 6-5, and I have two questions about the line count in SoJ. Spoilering the relevant names, even though I probably don't need to.

1. Two SoJ characters have, in a sense, "alternate personalities" with consecutive lines credited to separate names. How will Uendo/Patches/Kisegawa/Owen and Sarge/Armie be treated?
2. Can we conclude without a doubt that the person in Phoenix's credits scene is Thalassa?

I could probably treat all of the different personalities as individual characters and then have a combined count for Uendo overall. Armie/Sarge are the same person so there's no reason to separate them.

It's fortunate that you can still really easily tell which personality is speaking even before they start giving each personality a different name in the text box, since each one has a mutually exclusive animation set

I'd go straight for Kisegawa tbh.
Which is a weird thing to say since it's still a personality of a biological male character but she's just so charming.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Even before the reveal, it's easy to tell which personality is dominant.

Although now that I think of it, it's kind of cheating, because he splits his lines up by switching characters in the middle of them, which makes them count for more than every other character who can't do that - you'd have to combine their lines to get an accurate total

Yeah, I could keep a separate tally where I don't split the lines up just for comparison's sake.
