Yeah, I don't really like Junko and I usually like "the bad guys."

Also the thing I mentioned earlier about a Yasuhiro meme pic was a pic of him parodying the Ancient Aliens guy and he says "Junkos" so like... the VERY first thing I ever knew about DR was that something named "Junko" was suspicious in some way. So I wasn't outright spoiled, but I knew something was wrong with her.

Although I also had the theory for a while that the meme pic was making fun of people for coming up with "Junko is the mastermind!" theories before the reveal.

That was a huge thing back in the original DR LP on Something Awful, IIRC. At the end of the very first page, one guy started listing off what he thought of all the characters after their introductions. And for Junko, he was just like "wouldn't surprise me at all if she's behind the whole thing".

So he turned into "Junkos" guy.

I was there for the whole Danganronpa LP. Almost certain that thing is what led to the series being localized in the first place.

That Something Awful LP was how "experienced" DR. I don't remember if it was the same guy, but I remember someone took a pic of Ishimaru looking intense as fuck and said something like "I hope it turns out he has a blunt in his pocket." Although that ended up being false, I like to imagine Ishimaru has a secret stash.

I only saw what Danganronpa 2 had of the SA LP before it shut down (never played the full game), but I didn't particularly like what I saw and thought 1 was better. 2 seemed significantly more 'anime' and not in a good way. Maybe the second half got better. I know I'm a minority opinion though.

It did. Although I'd say DR2 was stronger than DR1 at all stages by a significant margin. But it's definitely stronger in the second half.

Grats on finishing! Glad you seemed to enjoy it, too. DR1 is pretty good but ho-ly shit is DR2 way better. If you're not feeling burned out at all I can almost promise you'll love it to pieces!

Also I'm so glad you weren't already spoiled on Junko. The DR community is fucking horrible with spoilers but the Junko stuff especially so.

I agree with this actually! I think 2 went a little TOO overboard on wacky character shenanigans.

Note to TC: This is not a spoiler, just an opinion. But I wanted to hide it in spoil bars just in case you're picky about that sort of thing i.e. it clouds your opinion of DR2

DR1 I liked (or at least was okay with) all the characters

DR2 has several characters I don't really like, and I think that's the main reason I prefer 1. That, and I thought a lot of 2's twists were kinda dumb

I liked DR1, but thinking back I realized all the 'ultimate hope' stuff was just cliche as fuck.

You really should play 2, it really improves upon the original.

I'd put Celeste up more and dump Byakuya to last, but nothing else stands out as particularly off. Perfectly decent ranking.

Ultra Despair Girls outs Toko higher, but just for DR1? Not too crazy to have her last.
