Im parked at the supermarket waiting for my grandma. I look at all the parked cars and I notice its nearly half and half.

I understand its roughly the same amount of work. You park easy facing in but then you have to make more effort reversing out when you leave. And if you do the reversing in first, parked facing out, you can just easily drive off when you leave.

But for me its almost always facing in because you need to open the boot to put your shopping in.

Then theres the factor of reversing into a parking space always gives you better turning angle than driving straight in.

How do you do it?

If its relatively empty, Ill drive in two spaces to face out.

If I plan to use my trunk, obviously I park normally to then back out.

This is a good point tbh. It would definitely be easier that way if you had some bigger/heavier items to load in.

For me I almost always back in. The ease when leaving just makes it too good not to. You've got fantastic visibility and a much better angle out.

However, I will drive straight in if the parking lot is busy. I can back in pretty fast but I don't want to be that guy that holds a bunch of people up by taking that extra few seconds to get my car parked.

Edit: I forgot the best one, when two spaces are empty and you can just pull through to be facing out. No backing in required.

If it's not busy and I'm not going to be loading anything into my trunk, I almost always back in.

If there's not a car coming up behind me, I'll always back in. If you have a camera it's much easier to park straight.

Except for slanted spots. Then I go straight in.
