I used to have a security clearance when I was in the Air Force doing IT.

It expired 2 years after I got out, and the only way to get one is to be sponsored by the Government or an company that has a Government contract.

There are 100+ open IT jobs in my area, according to places like ZipRecruiter and USAJobs.

I've only found literally 5 that don't explicitly require an Active Clearance, and none of them will sponsor you to GET a clearance, which means my job pool is way smaller than what I'm qualified for otherwise.

Basically, you need to not go more than 2 years without getting a job using it.

Pretty tough to do if you want to work at Nintendo and go to school, lol.

You can get one but They don't like doing it because it means sending someone to England and requesting all that shit and even then there are enough things whose distribution restriction includes NOFORN that there are a lot of jobs they wouldn't want you doing.
