Echoes also kind of lead to the possibility of skins and color swaps with more variety, like Zora armor from Twilight Princess (as an off-the-top example).

Chrom is also noticeably absent from the game so far, his color scheme having been removed from Ike's ensemble, and Robin's Final Smash being one of the few we haven't seen at all yet.

Spring Man seems unlikely because he's so recent. Based on previous stuff Sakurai has said they would have decided on the roster before Spring Man even existed.

Remember that when Smash 4 begun having trailers, Greninja did not yet exist and wasn't even revealed to the puplic before some months after. Sakurai said back thn they were using concept art to include him, so it's definitely possible with Spring Man too.

Like, even ignoring the gliding, which is a pretty big deal...

Sonic and Shadow are identical in pretty much every game they're in. They're both speed-focused, they both have homing attacks and spin dashes as their main attacks, etc.

Knuckles cannot homing attack. Knuckles isn't known for speed and rarely spin dashes. He's more known for pure punching and digging and power. Also gliding and climbing because you really shouldn't ignore those since that's been his whole thing since he came into existence.

He doesn't work as an echo fighter without bastardizing the character, whereas Shadow is literally a reskin even in Sonic games.

EDIT: Except the Shadow game since it was brought up but everybody ignores that

I thought Shadow's usage of "Chaos Control" would have been a bigger difference than Knuckles ability to glide, climb but nevertheless the important thing here is what this guy said:

But Sonic uses Chaos Control, too. It just wasn't included in Smash.

I dunno if people want him as much as it seems likely he may be one since he's basically different colored Sonic and his AT appears to be missing

My main point is that it'd be very doubtful either would be in as a full character to begin with, regardless of AT status. So with echo fighter being the best to hope for, only Shadow makes sense out of the two, because Knuckles just doesn't make sense as one

I would probably play Shadow over Sonic yes. I assume he'd be slightly slower and hit harder which I would appreciate.

What I'm expecting all in all is someone from ARMS, someone from Xenoblade, a Gen VII Pokemon and then Chrom, Dark Samus, maybe Shadow and perhaps a fourth echo fighter. Then a bigger reveal as well.

Not sure what of it I expect tomorrow.

Lucina was a pretty boring addition too, and they didn't announce her by herself, Robin was the main event in her reveal

Chrom is 99% guaranteed as an Echo Character, which is the entire point of the designation

Chrom is still a popular character and has been heavily featured in Fire Emblem Heroes. He recently got his own Amiibo. They already have an HD model of him from Smash 4, and Robin's Final Smash which uses him is suspiciously absent from the website videos despite basically every other character's Final Smash being shown. I would bet serious money on this.
