It's basically a built-in excuse to leave work and/or get out of virtually any event whenever the fuck you want.

I mean what asshole boss is gonna ask you for proof or even doubt the legitimacy of your appointment or whatever is going on if it involves your kid?

Now of course it doesn't even remotely make up for all the negatives, but still. Would be a nice perk, considering how often my boss and my coworkers work kids are randomly leaving.
