Flying is an action running and swimming are as well but those aren't types so why is flying consired a type? It would make sense it if was Air or Wind since we have water, earth, fire, etc...flying is what some pokemon do naturally that's why they have some flying moves even though they aren't flying type but they have wings. Some Pokemon have hands/legs and aren't fighting types but learn punch or kick fighting moves....

Flying type was originally called Bird type. You can even get a missingno. with the type in Red and Blue.
