The amount of detail in everything. From the exposed pipes and cables in the ceilings and the walls to the graffiti. All the way down to lamp posts and trash cans and vending machines. The city looks like its going to be massive.

In real life, tons of people are involved in the creation of a city. But how can a team of a few hundred people design a city to this much detail???

Just look at the part where V visits the doctor. All the objects, the junk, decorations and furniture. They are all hand crafted and placed in there by someone.

It is a amazing when you have people work on something that actually WANT to work on it. WAAAY too many jobs and companies have people that dont give a shit about anything they are doing. If you actually like and care about your work, then you will get quality.

I remember when I thought that detail in open world games meant something until I played the division.

That stuff does not get me hyped at all. The environment could look as rich as the discovery channel but if you cant interact with the environment its just a pretty back drop.

I think another factor to this is dev time. I'm not sure exactly how long the game has been in development but it's definitely longer than the typical AAA cycle, similar to how Rockstar do GTA -- it's ready when it's ready, not every 2-3 years for instance.

Now if every studio did this, they'd maybe have one or two major releases per gen so it might be a negative overall but it'd be interesting to get a glimpse of that reality and see what sort of content is available.

But still, i dont think i can sit all day and design soda cans, pieces of trash on the floor, cardboard boxes, different types of ripped sofas and chairs, posters, bins, trash bags etc.

And then to actually build an environment thats feasible and good looking. I have tried making nice houses on sims and minecraft. I always throw in the towel after failing so many trial and errors and still not able to make a satisfying design.

Man these developers are not just simple developers. They are also artists. Im sure they hire a bunch of proper designers and artists to draw up concept art. But still, to turn those rough concept sketches into 3d objects and then placing each object to make up each and every single room in the game.

The amount of time needed to create a game of this scale is just too much for me.

This is beyond GTA5. GTA5 doesnt have much interior and most of the city are just generic buildings and sky scrapers.

I'm sure being your own publisher helps immensely.

What are the chances that the game is going to be 90% linear where people are railroaded through a bunch of sequences that show off the most detailed parts?

i'm having flashbacks to the witcher 3 where i'd hear the exact. same. lines of dialogue and people doing the exact same things every time I went through certain areas. velen was a big offender, as I went through there a lot. I'm sure cyberpunk will be the same. It's tolerable in a virgin playthrough, but I'm not looking forward to beating the game.

If you watched the gameplay video and some dev interviews, it says there are multiple ways you can complete the job for Deshawn:

1) Use the money given by the corp lady to purchase the drone and you end up like in the video
2) Keep the money for yourself and either quietly steal the drone or just kill everyone in there (you get the element of surprise I guess)
3) Doublecross the corp lady by telling Royce about the virus in the chip (not sure what the outcome will be)

That doesn't change what I was talking about, though. Kingdom Come said they had multiple ways to complete new missions, too. As it turned out, that was for about 1 mission. Even if there are multiple ways, it doesn't mean that there isn't going to be a heavily linear narrative (just look at Hitman, great games, but they still use a level structure despite having multiple paths to winning).

We need more non pure shooter FPS games cause it's great. Plus with CDPR's reputation I am sure they will give free large updates and one of the things they will add is optional 3rd person view

I keep thinking they can do this level of detail thanks to having a AAA western game budget in a place where wages are lower. More bang for your buck I guess?

Devs said there well be a photo mode. Not sure what exactly that means, probably well be able to freeze the game to take some 3rd person screenshots.
