they did that to charlie sheen on 2.5 men. they mentioned that he walked off a subway platform and had a funeral for him. then the show was so garbage that it got canned

If John Goodman says she's not racist, she's probably not.

I've talked about this before, but sometimes people are just looking to insult one individual person, and thus they will say whatever they think will get under their skin the most. If they are a colored person, then that's an easy target. If they are fat, then they make fat jokes. That's probably what Roseanne was doing. And either way, it wasn't nice of her to tweet that, or very smart.

Yeah, but her ham-fisted way of dealing with it isn't doing her any favors. Can you really blame the studio for throwing up their arms and going, "she's more trouble than she's worth"?

I honestly don't think it's going to bomb, at least not right away. Most of the people I know who are fans of the show, are perfectly okay this move (in fact, a lot of them actually are happy about it). Dan, Jackie, and the kids are actually just as popular as Roseanne. In most cases, losing the title character would be death, but this is, again, a weird series in a meta-sense.

I've said this same thing when Gamergate was blowing up and it fell on deaf ears as the retorts were how "THIS IS IMPORTANT AND A REFLECTION OF SOCIETY!!!". I gave up trying to tell people to stop caring about petty shit and would rather just mock them now

I don't see it lasting past one season honestly. But I don't think of Roseanne was a part of it it'd go much further than MAYBE 3 seasons total. Revivals, while they tend to do good early on, will always fade as time progresses. And not to mention each day network television becomes more and more of a dying breed. While Roseanne did do well in ratings her first season, carrying that over for a multiple season run was likely always to end with it getting cancelled due to low interest. Streaming has ruined network episodic television.

That's a bit debatable, honestly.

Look at Brooklyn 99; the show had no interest but was a Netflix sensation. Fox axed them, but because of the popularity they gained from streaming, they were actually saved. I know that's not always the case, but it's becoming more and more common for streaming to actually create audiences where there was none before. And that's not even getting into Netflix revivals.
