I can't say I agree. Plot armour doesn't always protect characters in the final battle, but it's obvious the title character is going to get to the final battle, even if they have to make a sacrifice in the battle.

Well yeah they're going to make it to the final battle, but unless you've read the manga how will you know when the final battle is?

And with Stone Ocean, all of the deaths and sacrifices the Joestars made were in vain as Pucci succeeded in resetting the timeline and wiping their existence

Part 3 is pretty obviously set up as a journey to Cairo to fight Dio. Any fight not against Dio is clearly not the final battle.

Jojo is like the only anime where I dont mind the plot armor. Because it actually feels like they are self-aware about it, like its part of the joke/style of the show where they come up with the most ridiculous solutions or comebacks which just makes you chuckle.

Reason why i hate most anime is that they do this but are being unironic about it where the hero always comes up with a bs i win move and act like it was serious all along.

Just the stone ocean kids. As part 7 and 8 shows us the Joestar family tree contorts because Johnny doesn't marry Erina in this timeline. There is no Lisa Lisa to birth Joseph because there was no Erin's to save her so the Joseph and Elizabeth in that timeline is by name only. Holly gives birth to a daughter and Kira. There is no Jotaro.

Even the characters that remain in the new timeline bear no semblance to the ones all through part 6. I mean, just look at Johnny and Ceaser.

Part 7 is fucking awesome though. It's a bit more realistic, but in all the right ways.(i.e. character development and art style).

Don't get me wrong. I hated that ending but 7 and 8 are great. I think 7 is a bit overrated tbh, but it's still damn good. People are sleeping on 8 though. It's what part 4 should have been since that's what it's seeming to parallel.

Part 7 has an equivalent to Hamon called the Spin, and we got about 7 years of that along with Stands.

I don't know about that second part though, stands can do whatever the hell Araki wants, so I don't see why he would introduce a new power system that's entirely set apart from them. Even with the Spin, it's used to evolve Johnny's stand into newer forms. I wouldn't mind another power system though, as long as stands also remain in some form.

Is part 7 like stardust crusaders? Monster of the week?

Yes, but the enemy Stand users are actually all very interesting. The overarching plot also develops throughout the whole part, so there's some significant progress being made in areas other than just distance traveled.

You wouldn't be reading part 9 without reading the previous parts though especially when parts 5-7 are considered the best. Generally the only people who prefer hamon are the ones who got turned off from the transition in part 3 and haven't got much further than that. The majority of fans who've gotten to part 5 prefer stands over hamon so there's no reason for Araki to make it hamon again when the people who prefer it wouldn't read that far anyway. (part 2 is also generally considered pretty bad in the manga and it's the anime that salvaged it. The anime wouldn't get to a part 9 in at least a couple decades.)
Part 7 does put a "spin" on hamon anyway but by that point stands have gotten so creative and interesting people still prefer it.

I miss Hamon but I think that's really only because part 2 was so good. Stands are a much more interesting concept. Still, it doesn't mean you can't do more with Hamon and it was definitely underutilized. I think had stands been introduced later so Hamon could play out it'd be perfect. They should make a future JoJo part focus on ancient Hamon users or something.

I think it's it not necessarily just the concept of Stands/lack of Hamon that rubs me the wrong way, but also the fact that with Part 3 there's less physicality in the fights overall. Combine that with the creepy haunting nature of some of the enemy stands and I feel most of Part 3 has been unintentionally feeling like a campy horror genre anime more than anything else.

Characters aren't as interesting either. The villains in Part 1/2 had more time to develop, even Tarkus & Bruford. Joseph is still the best Part 3 character to me even as he becomes more comedical because he's the only consistent one. I get what they're doing with Jotaro being the soft-spoken but smart type, but he sometimes just pounds the enemy and doesn't really ever seem to be in real danger. I'm looking forward to how Part 4/6 portray him

I dislike the transition from muscle-bound manly men striking manly poses to sexy lithe anorexic dudes wearing lipstick more than I dislike the transition from Hamon to Stands tbh
