It has cards from the OG anime, GX, and tomorrow, 5Ds. It's onlu up to Synchro summoning right now. There's no XYZ, no pendulums, and no link summons.

Starting tomorrow yes the 5ds cards will be added you most likely have to lvl up your stage on the regular yugioh first that's how you unlocked GX when it was added.

Duel Links is so powercrept that there are decks stronger than what you can find in the Zexal era, sans maybe Dragon Rulers. It does have a half-power spellbooks though.

Synchros don't even stand a chance, especially in the state it's being released. Super neutered duelist rewards, Stardust being locked in a fucking main box, no prominent tuners.

5D's world is gonna be a total shitshow. Konami has 0 interest in keeping this game alive. They just want as much money out of it before it dies eventually.

Pendulums can be complicated. Otherwise all the new summoning methods are just objectively better tribute summoning. You're just going from 5-6*, tribute 1, 7*+, tribute 2, to tuner lvl + non-tuner lvl = synchro's lvl or 2 monsters with the same level unless stated otherwise = xyz monster with the same rank.

Links can seem intimidating, but it's by far the most brainless summoning thus far. It's literally sending 2+ monsters according to some arbitrary condition written on the link monster to the gy, summoning a link monster. Except you can use as many monsters as you want for link 3+, but all the non-links have an implied link 1. And the combined link has to equal the link monster being summoned, meaning to summon a link 3, you can use a link monster with link 2 and a random monster, or just 3 random monster. Longer explanation, significantly less math and thinking required.

The only thing that got complicated are the number of effects per card. A lot of monsters nowadays have a big special summon effect with a gimmick, a unique effect that's either trigger or quick, and a possible recursion where when it's dead you get to do yada yada. If anything, old ygo was too simple. It wasn't gonna last as is, and 5D's revived it

Except now DLinks is shitting all over 5D's, which revived and sustained the series singlehandedly

I uninstalled Duel Links like 8 months ago, and I'm debating whether to re-install it for this update. Catching up to 8 months worth of cards/gem/rewards that I've missed will be annoying though...

It's not hard you just need a specific type of monster which is a tuner. Say for example you have a lvl2 tuner and a lvl4 monster you "tune them" think of it as a fusion without the magic card and you can summon a synchro monster in this case 2+4 =6lvl synchro monster these cards are white and go on the fusion section in the field

I mean as opposed to summon Amazoness Princess, set Onslaught, set 2 pass. That's a kind of oppressive 1 card combo board that 95% of 5D's decks can't even imagine dealing with.

Synchros always required a bunch of setup and a lot of combos. Duel Links meta decks are just 1-2 searchers that set up all your plays automatically.

No way dude lol. The good pendulums just have so much recursion and looping, and the extra deck toolboxing is just significantly better than GY toolboxing which has a bunch of counters. There's a reason they had to limit Electrumite and ban guys like Astrograph.

My post is about just having normal pendulum monsters exist in a late GX type setting. They wouldn't be dominating anything. Pendulum decks that rose to the top of the meta always did so because Konami stacked them with mind meltingly insane effects. On an appraisal of the core mechanics of the summoning type, pendulums are downright harmless in comparison to something like Xyz that just breaks the game open for every deck ever.

Yeah but Jaden didn't get Neos until like 2nd season of GX. Compared to that Stardust was not only earlier in appearance but also used significantly more, as in like 80% of Yusei's duels, compared to Neos who saw play maybe like 30-50% somewhere

They quite literally added brand new game mechanics with every single new block. Granted, due to set/block rotations, you have to deal with fewer of them at the same time... but if you're trying to say that Magic is better than Yugioh, saying that there's less "convoluted bullshit" is one of the most blatantly wrong ways to go about it.

Besides new summoning types (which only come every 3 years or so rather than every 3 sets) and the "master rules" change that came with Link monsters, Yugioh very rarely adds entirely new game mechanics to the game. Every card outside of the new summoning types is just an extension of the game mechanics already in place.

tbf Xyz was a big deal. It's not convoluted (the regular rules of Yugioh that normies don't even know about is the convoluted part, like missing the timing, replays, and activation priority), but it changed the game completely.
