Im also unsure what a Prep nerf would change. It would hit miracle quite a bit, but if its a 1 mana reduction it just means they cant Prep fan for free. Apart from that the only really played cards in constructed are Sprint, Vanish, Mimic Pod, And the Crystal Core

Theyve never buffed cards in the past (and iirc theyve said that bad cards are important in the past), I dont know why youd think they would start now.

Giggling nerf seems like a lot, but its still a strong card so I guess its not too surprising. Should be played a lot less in most classes though.

Mana Wyrm means that Aluneth Mage gets a little less opportunity to rush you down early. Ill miss it, but thats probably healthy. Mage in general gets a bit slower without any other super powerful turn 1 plays that I can remember. Aluneth losing that killer opener probably means it falls out of standard though.

I dont know much about wild, but removing the Aviana combo without modifiers seems like a positive. Its still possible in other ways, but the consistency change might make a difference.

Well they checked all the boxes they normally check: a ubiquitous standard card, an unexpected (but in this case deserving) classic card, and a problematic wild card. They just neglected to do anything about standard Druid.

I am fine with Wyrm at 2 mana. A turn 1 3/3 with two 0/2 taunts feels bad AF to play against.

As a Wild player, the Aviana nerf was the best one if you wanted to hit combo druid as hard as possible. But I dont think that's the right call and it feels kinda lazy. I'd rather see a nerf to Melon and Plague which are busted enablers and see if it's still a problem. That also would affect Standard.

Guys, I know we're currently bitching about nerfs, but I need advice on an arena pick:

Mossy Horror
Dragon slayer
Fungalmancer

(I've drafted a giggling, but still leaning towards Mossy cause everyone else will draft giggling. But Dragon slayer can be clutch [been offered Bone Drake 3 times already so I know they're common] and the Fungi is boss as well)

Depends on what else you have at the moment, but probably Fungalmancer. I still love Dragonslayer, but it feels like it's a vanilla 3/4/3 most of the time for me. Can't remember the last time I played the card and there was a dragon to target, not including the times where I control a dragon and can't play it at all.

I wanted to see a Cavern's Below nerf, but I am otherwise pretty ok with the changes.

Mana Wyrm is honestly overdue. I think they could make it a 2 mana 2/3 instead of a 2 mana 1/3, but that would actually be a very strong card.

They changed the one thing they really, really needed to change, which was Psychmelon into Aviana/Kun in Wild.

I wasn't even sure if they were going to touch giggling (it's in about 30% of decks, but during the witchwood meta Tar Creeper was in 30% of decks). I'm happy that they ARE changing giggling to be clear, it was strong enough that people ran mossy horror and blood knight, and strong enough that you still played Giggling Inventor even if you know there's decent odds that your opponent has Mossy Horror or Blood Knight. But this just made for massive blowout games cause MH and BK counter Giggling super hard. Scaling giggling waaaay back means fewer games will be blowouts, so that's just going to improve the overall quality of games.

That said, 7 mana feels a bit excessive. Feels like this was aimed specifically at quest rogue. If it were up to me, I'd probably have made Giggling 6 mana, and done a third nerf to Caverns Below.

On people whining about the lack of Druid nerfs...I don't get it? Like...I haven't really struggled to beat Druid with any of the decks I've been running lately (including a whole bunch of Whizbang the Wonderful). Hunter is the class I've been finding hard to beat.

They certainly made the right call pushing it to 7 instead of 6 because at 6, it would be god tier in Even Shaman and would possibly even be good enough to bring Even Paladin back into the spotlight.

Still disappointed though. Really wanted to see something like Branching Paths get hit, or Plague, but I guess theyre holding out for rotation + hall of fame for maybe wild growth or nourish.

I'm going to say no on it bringing back Even Paladin at 6 mana.

Giggling Inventor usually doesn't make the cut in Odd Paladin right now at 5 mana (unless you're running a lot of magnetic minions like Wargear). Why would it make the cut in Even Paladin at 6 mana? Like...I've seen Giggling Inventor compared to Call to Arms, which is pretty fair. Annoy-o-trons are 2-drops, and a 2/1 is a one drop. Would you play a 6 mana Call to Arms?

Even Shaman I can see, just because giggling is really good with Dire Wolf Apha and Flametongue Totem. Pretty similar to how giggling gets a bump in Token Druid thanks to Savage Roar, Branching Paths, Strongshell Scavenger, and Soul of the Forest. That said...it would still cost 6 mana. 6 mana with support cards is still a lot less scary than 5 mana with support cards.

You could very likely be right. The mana cost at 7 is clearly going to kill the card, and well never know how strong a 6 mana version was.

The best Shaman deck (Even Shaman) doesn't run it.

The second best Shaman Deck (midrange evolve shaman) runs it but can't go infinite with it.

The combo version still exists but is outclassed by Mech'a'thun decks. Even in the combo shudderwock decks it's often correct to play Shudderwock before you can go infinite with it--it's not binary like Mech'a'Thun (which either wins instantly or does nothing).

Combo Shudder also one of the highest skill decks in the game right now. Like...personally I feel like I know the deck pretty good, I got to legend with it after all, but then I watched the tournament last weekend and still saw plays that I would not have made. Like...in a Shudderwock vs Malygos Druid matchup...the autopilot thing for Shudderwock to do is to use Zola on Sardonite chain gang right? Well, nope, languagehacker used Zola on Glacial Shard, and then held the Glacial Shard to the next turn so that he could delay the twig from breaking one more turn. He then dropped Shudderwock on turn 9 with only one chain gang and no Grumble literally to glacial shard the face a third time. I would not have thought of these plays at the time, and....I would have lost the game that he won.

My first dual class arena was Paladin/Mage, I assumed that meant I had a chance to play with both classes. Out of the 90 cards offered to me in my draft, there were a total of two Mage cards, Shifting Scroll and Arcane Artificer. I just retired the deck automatically, great use of an arena ticket.

Time to use my second ticket and see if something better comes of it.
