The real world sucks. All I have time for is work, basically. I dont do anything else. Wake up at 5:30. Go to work. Get home usually around 6pm. Rinse. Repeat. Eat some dinner, watch a show on Netflix or play a game for a bit. Then go to bed.

Post college, Ive found I dont really hang out with many friends anymore. The only time Ive really done stuff with people consistently is when Ive been in a relationship. Which idk if I really want anymore, because constantly hanging out with the same person just feels like a chore to me.

But is this all there is too life? What am I supposed to be excited about? This sucks. I hate it all.

I used to enjoy my job. But I call BS. There should be way more to life than just your job. I dont think your purpose in life is to go and work all day every day.

It looks like you have discovered the absurd...

It happens that the stage-sets collapse. Rising, streetcar, four hours in the office or the factory, meal, streetcar, four hours of work, meal, sleep, and Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday according to the same rhythm this path is easily followed most of the time. But one day the why arises and everything begins in that weariness tinged with amazement.

This sounds accurate. I read The Stranger back in HS and always found a pull to existentialism.

Yeah exactly. I dont get how people can commit to extra stuff like that and not get burnt out on life.

Honestly. There has to be more to life than this. Right...? Or is this all there is to it?

I glad i quit my joband decided to run my family's business. It is a job, still and it is not glorious, but it is mine. At least in just ny birthright. The mindset you feel when working, that your whole family is at stake, plus just slavin making some rich shithead richer is different.

It is tiring, but i find myself wanting to learn more and more and more ho to do this thing, how to expand it.

Im a teacher. Specifically, my job isnt awful. I get paid pretty well. Dont teach a core subject either so I dont deal with most BS regular teachers have to mess with.

Not so much about my job specifically. More like...should the vast majority of my life be dedicated to making money so I can pay off student loan debt. I just feel like a slave to the system. As cheesy and cliche as that is.

I feel the same exact way. I'm 30 and got my Master's and finally landed an entry level job working at a help desk. I'm hoping to move on up and figure out a position I like, but the more I think about it, I'm only in the field because I'm familiar with it. It's not fun and not very rewarding.

I work less hours, but I'm still at work 9 hours a day. I try to get 8 hours of sleep. That's already 17 hours of my day occupied by sleeping and working. Including the hour it takes me to get ready for work and driving to and from, that's maybe 18 or 19 hours out of my day, leaving me tired and with only 5 hours left for living. Cooking food, watching a show or two, and maybe a game here and there, just like you. It sucks.

My only hopes now are to find a job working 10 hours a day, 4 days a week or winning the lottery and sitting on my ass the rest of my life. 5 days a week at 8 hours worked back in the 1920's, but not anymore. This shit is awful.

Yeah I'm pretty unhappy with my current schedule. I work 8-10 hours every weekday and some Saturdays, go to school for half the week after work, and the other half I'm doing homework. I usually have to sleep three to four hours when I get home so I can be awake enough to spend a couple hours with my girlfriend when she gets out of work. Then when I'm too tired I fall asleep for two to three hours so I can get up for work.

The only part of my life I find full filling is spending time with my girlfriend. I like what I'm doing in school but I'm really burnt out. Feels like I don't get time to myself anymore

There are jobs with different hours. 4 10s, 48 on/96 off, 3 12s etc. I used to work heavy hours for 7 months and then have 5 months off. My buddy is a fire fighter and he doesn't know what to do with all his free time and four day weekends. My uncle was an airline pilot and he only worked like 10 days a month

People always call me lazy for seeking jobs with a good schedule and lots of time off. "They don't exist! just conform already! life is work!"

This is one way religion maintains. People can dig their minds into a hole, thinking the way you do.

A small community of people who grow weary of this life come together to contemplate on the betterness of a possible afterlife. You just need suspension of disbelief. It's not hard for me to see why people can be religious.

I've been thinking about this a lot recently, and I think the key is to be your own boss, start your own company, be an entrepreneur, etc. Obviously easier said than done, but yeah. I think that's when you'll actually start finding some more meaning in life.

At least, that's what I hope for myself once I start my own business in the near future.

And I will say recently, I've been working 4, 10s at my job and I think that has helped a ton. An extra day for every week to do whatever is so nice.

I get like this sometimes and you have to remember than we have it better than ever today. Humanity for the most part lived a much, much, much shitier life than you, and they've had to do grueling physical work with no AC for almost the entire day with no entertainment or any of the pleasures we have. If you put things in perspective with the rest of the human experience, we all live like kings.

Yep. Im incredibly burnt out too. Im in year 5 of teaching and I think Im about ready to find a new profession with some flexibility thatll allow me to have more time to myself.

Hell. With how busy I am now...I hardly even have time to go on dates and find a girlfriend. Pretty much my only day off is Sunday. And talking to a girl all week only to see her one day of the week seems pointless to me when they can find tons of other guys who have way more free time then me. Hah.

This is what happens when parents don't make their kids work a month or so out of each summer vacation. That shit should start at 13 or 14 and stay that way. I'm talking about a JOB and not household chores. Those start sooner.

If you don't have to work any the whole time you're growing up and then you graduate, move out and get a job, you're gonna think "THIS is what life is?! I'd rather be fuckin' dead!"

Like last weekend it was the Renaissance Festival, this week the world's largest modern Viking ship is coming to DC and I'm gonna see that, etc. Sometimes it's fun to just get out in the fresh air and see something.
