It depends how strong you think he is.

Charizard going even with Zelda in 2013 didn't make him a fraud, people just overestimated him. If you think Mewtwo is a step below the near-elites then he won't be a fraud.

(Charizard's performance on Mario was absolutely fraudulent though, no matter how you slice it. Maybe his performance on Bowser too)

I just think it's ridiculous on how many people believed that result. No way does Kratos break 40% on Mario (or is even equal to Bowser). It should have been one of the easiest predictions to make.

For my part it was wishful thinking based on the Zard train helping me out in the previous character battle and wanting it to repeat.

Man, I actually picked Zelda > Charizard in 2013 with the firm belief that Charizard was massively overrated, and I was so close!

if Lightning doesn't totally screw it up against DK I may have gotten it right too!

Yeah, this is what I'm leaning towards right now.

Mewtwo is hard to get a read on. But even if you respect the mon, Tifa in round 2 might still be too much for him to handle. So Tifa should have that.

Charizard should be the strongest Pokemon, but 2013 proved that he was a fraud. Plus this is the year of Bowsette, so Charizard's got nothing on that.

Red and Pikachu are total wildcards. Knowing Pokemon, one of them will be a fraud while the other will make a deep run, and it'll be a total crapshoot as to which does which.

going back to this I'm not sure about this

I think DK hurt Zelda more than he hurt Charizard because Pokemon usually resists LFF more than most and Zelda is kind of a leech anyway (not as much as Ganondorf though LOL)

Charizard isn't a fraud in a vacuum, but compared to what other Pokemon were doing in 2013 he certainly feels like one.

Cloud vs. Squirtle vs. Leon

Cloud is still one of our strongest characters. While Leon LFFs Cloud a bit, they're still from different companies and genres. Despite all that, Squirtle wins.

Mega Man vs. Zero vs. Charizard

Mega Man is very strong but not quite as strong as Cloud. Zero is from the same series as Mega Man and thus LFFs him quite a bit. Charizard puts up a strong fight but comes up short.

From those two matches, Squirtle is clearly in another league than Charizard. And then Squirtle lost to Pikachu and Pikachu lost to Mewtwo. Granted that's likely not perfectly transitive, but it doesn't paint a pretty picture for Charizard.

I'd expect Charizard to be in the running for strongest Pokemon, but he was very down to Earth compared to the insanity that was Pokemon in 2013.

also Master Chief on Game Fuel was absolutely legit strength, it just didn't last (and nobody outside of Lopen expected it to)

also 35% on Link then losing to Knuckles vs. 46.5% on Mario then barely escaping losing to Zelda

people thought of them both as Noble Nine breakers before they got exposed too

they seem pretty similar to me imhotbqh
