McKamey Manor, run by Russ McKamey in San Diego, California, has been described in reports as a 'psychological nightmare'.

Participants get their head shaved and are sent away shaking after a range of special effects, actors and live animals such as tarantulas and rats, it is claimed.

They can also be masked and held under water, it is alleged.

I'm surprised this place is still around. You pay to have people physically torture you. That's not what's fun about a haunted house.

Saw this place on Dark Tourist. Adrenaline junkies go there looking for a kick, and most of them don't seem to last long.

They say it can go up to 8 hours but the most anyone has ever lasted is 6. Which I think means there is no winning, they'll just keep it going until you pass out.

I remember about the sexual assault one, apparently even screaming "STOP" doesn't' stop them from doing things to you because of the waver, you have to say some kind of safe word so if you actually forgot it your bad time is going be alot worse, through from my understanding nobody has actually died from it. Just developed some psychological issues or have tried to sue the place only to be screwed by the waver they signed.

Why aren't people reading those things after hearing about what goes on there and them being in the news every year around this time for this shit?

It's hardly sexual assault when you are literally paying actors
to do it after signing a waiver explicitly acknowledging they will do it and given explicit explanation on how to make them stop if you are too uncomfortable. What more can the business do? It's trying to provide a service to people who want a certain experience, and have done everything they reasonably can to accomodate people who cannot handle it.

I highly doubt the waiver is specialized and says each specified thing. That would be a nightmare to maintain lawfully. It probably says we won't kill you, but we can do everything else.

I was looking for haunted house a couple years ago, and came across one of his. Watched a YouTube video, and one of the employees went over the waiver. They said you can be slapped, punched... have urine and feces thrown on you.

That's when I realized it was more of an S&M torture house, and not for me

McKamey said he spends four hours with a potential participant, walking them through a 40-page waiver and "trying to convince them not to do this." He also said he requires a letter from a physician, a criminal background check, pre-event interviews and does a portable drug test the day of the event.
