So it just occurred to me that there is a way to manually trigger poll updates, so I just triggered an update for 1:02 PM. To make up for the lack of automatic updates, I've had to set up script to access the manual poll update URL every 5 minutes.

DQ is bigger worldwide in that Japan alone has more DQ fans than Persona has worldwide, but in NA I wouldnt be surprised if Persona has closed the gap or gone above it by now given DQ was pretty absent until 11 unless you count those weird spinoffs they were considering not even localizating. Main game console wise though it was a long time between DQ8 and 11 considering NA never got 10 and 9 was on the 3DS

Dragon Quest in Japan is big enough to where big releases are basically country wide holiday

In America obviously Persona eclipses DQ by a lot

Dragon Quest XI is also on par with P5

There could be some voting twice or more. There appears to be some sort of issue where people who already voted and saw the thanks for voting message are no longer seeing it and can somehow vote again

Yes, but for the sake of the contest you can basically just ignore Japan sales.

I know but even if it doesn't translate into Contest strenght, I was still surprised,. I really expected P5 to have sold far more than DQ worldwide.

Are we talking in general or on GameFAQs? Dragon Quest is more popular in general, but on GameFAQs Persona is more popular. DQVIII only got 55% on Persona 3 after all.

The format encourages you to vote for everyone, but you're not required to do so. I wouldn't be surprised if most voters thought you had to vote for everyone though.

Actually, wait, it does look like you have to vote for everyone this time. SBAllen set it up in 2015 and 2017 to where it tried to get you to vote for everyone, but you could vote for as few as you wanted. I just remember lots of people thinking you had to vote for everyone in 2015 and 2017, too. I'm sure there's a workaround with a script or something this time around, but yeah.

I think forcing people to vote for everyone in order to vote could actually impact some matches. I feel like that helps the well known characters that people have at least heard of. Pictures could matter more than usual, too.

I feel like it might be tougher to vote stuff a match in a way that isn't blatant when you have to vote for four options. Monika's chances are probably dead with that in mind. Probably not enough prep time for some motivated mind to figure out how to crack that. Or it might just be as simple as RNGing the 3 other options but I don't really know how votes are processed from the form.

So I just messed around with it a bit, you need to select all 4 winners for the 'lock votes' button to appear but when it does appear you can deselect the matches you don't want to cast a vote on and still be able to press the 'lock votes in'

oh hey you can hover over the pictures and it'll show the character's full name and game so that's neat

Power Hour (0:00-1:00)
Early Night Vote (1:00-6:00) (9 PM-2 AM)
Deep Night Vote (6:00-10:00) (2 AM-6 AM)
Morning Vote (10:00-16:00) (6 AM-12 PM)
Day Vote (16:00-24:00) (12 PM-8 PM)

so I just noticed that when looking at individual battle results, it directs you to the poll of the day board on the bottom....I guess at least the main results forms directs you to the right place...

A lot of people are angry/confused of loseres bracket it the best case scenario is the fact that characters that would be inevitably get SFF fucked by a Noble 9er can get a chance of redemption at a weaker opponent.

The whole contest should have been a double elimination, so when a character gets rallied we'll still have a contest going on.
