When I turned 40, a dozen different minor medical issues all spontaneously cropped up within a few months.

It's clearly the point where the human warranty runs out.

Plus your doctor decides to get intimately acquainted with your backside. Not a fun thing (well, for me at least, nothing wrong if you like that kind of thing.)

Fuck I'm pushing 30 and already thinking about retirement. I figure 10 more years of grinding and spending modestly and it's a real thing.

37, I will be there soon myself.

I dunno, I guess kinda like my parents I don't worry over frivolous stuff so much (like keeping up with trends, hanging out in the streets, etc)

But I still look young (ppl still think I'm in my late 20s) so it's a moot point for me.

Just another number, just means more maintenance like a car hitting 100,000 miles.

I turn 40 in February. I have noticed over the last couple years that my bones are creaking and cracking a lot more than they used to. I have also noticed I get sore much easier and don't heal as fast.

I don't mind getting older when you consider the alternative.

As I have mentioned before, if your under 50 years old right now (and quite likely under 60) age really shouldn't matter to much. Tech will evolve to the point where age shouldn't matter much before you die, I suspect.

Main question is if that tech will be released to the public or hoarded and used only by the rich (highly likely).

In which case, yeah, we are all screwed still.

Up to about 21, you look forward to each new milestone birthday.

After 21, you mostly only care about the decades (30, 40, 50, etc) and you start dreading them more than looking forward to them.

In a relevancy sense, about the only milestone post-21 that really matters is legal retirement age for determining when you can start collecting benefits (and then a few after that, like 70 for certain tax/banking-related issues).
