Even if that were entirely accurate, there's also the thing that if you don't hit kids, they will grow up into a less violent adult population that won't need to defend themselves because people won't attack. That logic has schools being incredibly PC and coddling the shit out of the kids like life is an episode of The Care Bears. They'll turn 18 and realize that the world is a meaner place than they were prepared for.
