The way they're wired means it's physically impossible for the camera to come on without also firing the little light next to it, so disabling the device driver is good enough.

Yea. not really because I'm paranoid about the Government but because i know some programs, websites or Apps can be sneaky and access your camera without you knowing.

I didn't cover mine for the longest time because "lol, that's paranoid/conspiracy theorist." Later it became apparent to me that it was actually possible for it to be done, but probably wasn't being done except in limited cases. Eventually it was leaked by several sources that it is being done, most likely to anyone/everyone.

It's pretty messed up, but it seems like now anything that has a camera/microphone and an Internet connection is surveilling you regularly. A good example is targeted ads. We already knew about them using your search history for ads, but a lot of people (myself included) have noticed targeted ads after merely talking about something.

Mine was pretty creepy. I was telling my girlfriend that my back was sore and jokingly asked her to give me a massage. Then later on, I was on Reddit and a thing came up and was like "Need a massage?" and it was for Waterpik showerheads.

We've created a goddamn monster. >_>

Nah. What exactly is going to happen? If someone I don't know, from half way across the world, is watching me, then well, I don't even know and I'm not going to encounter them so it's not going to affect me.

The only possible gain anyone would have is, yeah, targeted advertising, and honestly, I don't see that as being an overly huge deal.

I get the moral issues in general, but I just don't see it as worth personally caring about.

You can "disable" it but it can be remotely enabled without your knowledge. Don't they have IR capability now?

Anyone with Windows 10 should know this for sure.

The worst is not what they see, but what they hear. If you're naked bending over, no problem. If you're thinking the government should collapse.....that's another story. Your camera could have audio attached to it independently and you'd never know.
