A lot of people, including myself, enjoy the more realistic mechanics. But if your character is slowly turning around when you're trying to change direction, might wanna check your controller to see it isn't acting up. I think the Kotaku review described the movement system of RDR2 pretty well
I only rarely found Red Dead 2 to be fun in the way I find many other video games to be fun. The physical act of playing is rarely pleasurable on its own. It is often tiring and cumbersome, though no less thrilling for it. No in-game activity approaches the tactilely pleasing acts of firing a space-rifle in Destiny, axing a demon in God of War, or jumping on goombas in Super Mario Bros. It's pretty spot on. I remember looting some enemies early in the game and Arthur randomly decided to climb over this fallen post in a building and almost trapped himself in there. --- Kind Regards, Darmik ... Darmik posted...Pressing a button in Red Dead 2 rarely results in an immediate or satisfying response. Is it? Everything is deliberately slower than most games because of the detailed animations for better or worse. I don't think there's any instant 'gamey' response in the game. Like this isn't even really a criticism. It's how the game is designed. Even the act of moving isn't as instant or quick compared to most games. --- Kind Regards, Darmik ... Copied to Clipboard!

It feels like you're in a tutorial for way too long and it takes a good 10-20 hours before the story picks up, which amazes me because I remember hearing they cut out a lot of content because it didn't gel correctly.
My one major complaint is that horses are pretty dumb and run into shit too easy. It's really annoying after how perfect Breath of the Wild was. The actual survival elements have not been intrusive at all and I think people are really over exaggerating them. Overall, it's amazing what they have done with the amount of detail, the graphics and the acting. I'm kind of convinced a lot of people are hating on this because it makes Naughty Dog "cinematic" experiences look like dogshit in comparison. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yes it is. The controls are responsive. That's not what the quote is really talking about. The controls are responsive but they're slower and more deliberate. There's nothing like doing a quick long jump in Mario or snapping the Axe to your hand in God of War. It's more about how some games have this immediate satisfaction to controlling the character. Red Dead 2 isn't that style of game. Everything is much slower and deliberate. To shoot a guy you're loading up the weapon wheel and you're shooting when Arthur gets that weapon out of the holster. To loot a body you have to watch Arthur bend down and search through the pockets. To pick stuff up you have to hold onto a button for a couple of seconds even if there's lots of stuff to pick up. To skin an animal you have to watch Arthur go through that process. Look at the difference between a fist fight in something like God of War or RDR2 as another example. In God of War it's designed to make you feel like a powerful badass. Your punches are strong, fast and make big impacts. A fistfight in RDR2 is almost the opposite. It's not a snappy game at all. That's what people are talking about. It doesn't mean that you have poor control over Arthur (although I've experienced some wonkiness with the cover/climbing system personally). --- Kind Regards, Darmik ... Copied to Clipboard!
