Memory gets weak. Even if you really saw a ghost, scientifically you wouldn't have a good memory of its face years later. Most likely it was a perv watching you. I heard a story where a young boy thought he saw a ghost when he was young. His mom later when he was older told him about how one night a man tried to break into their house. He had never heard that story before as his mother kept it a secret. He realized his ghost was the attempted burgular.
