Shepard will still win this, but this is hilariously sad. it'll be like the Dedede match where Rool will just stop gaining after an hour and Shepard will use all of his might to win by like 300 votes.

Rool, Dedede, Simon -- these guys are all kinda the same. Shepard, Ocelot, Hayabusa -- they're basically all the same at this point too.

I'm close to the point where I'm not sure whether Smashfear or Pokefear is going to be more annoying to see when the contest is all said and done.

yup, and I think these new trailer guys will never be stronger than they are now. the old folk are popular just through time, but a dumb 90 second trailer means the world.

unless you're Isabelle. because that trailer was a whole lot of nothing.

It's not that trailers make people like a character more. It's just bringing in more people who like those characters to the message boards.

If you're a DKC fan, and you see a reveal of a character you like, you're probably going to go to the Internet to talk about it. Where do you go to talk about games? A percentage probably come to the message boards here. Then they find a community they like and stay and vote in the polls.

Maybe this is geographical difference but where I live every single gen Yer had a super nintendo and played a DKC game.

Actually scratch the "maybe". It is geographical difference. K. Rool is doubling Shepard in Brazil lmao.

DKC is a popular series!

Well to be fair he is the final boss, so only people who were good at videogames would know him.

Yeah it's probably mostly Smash.

Well I'm not going to say you have to be good at video games to get to King K. Rool in DKC but as far as being memorable or loved as a character/boss/whatever I wouldn't say he is.

DKC's appeal is mostly just in traversing environments with cool music. The bosses are whatever.

But I mean it when I say DKC seems more popular here than in the USA.

Because children don't speak English and no games ever came with Portuguese translations so we didn't play RPGs or Zelda. We played platformers and fighters. I think the first time I heard about Zelda was in Smash N64.

Like it always surprised me to see Donkey and DIddy suck so hard in these contests, while random FF stuff was beastly.

DKC2 is a top 5 video game of all time for me and I love the last boss fight in that game against K. Rool.

I just can't fathom really liking the guy that much though.

Honestly, I think this Ryu performance is kinda bad. He's doing worse than Fox did against Lloyd.

Fortunately, it doesn't look like Shepard will pose much of a problem next round, but yeah, I don't think Seph has anything to worry about from Ryu.

K. Rool is really underrated as far as final bosses go. I know he's putting up a fight cause of Smash but he shouldn't need Smash.

Remember when in the Super Mario TV show Bowser dressed up differently on each episode? Well K. Rool does that but in videogames and it's awesome.

Ryu might be in smash but he's not exactly benefiting from it. Cloud's in smash too but I don't think he suddenly rocks Link because of it or anything.

I do think Cloud being in Smash is enough to prevent him from losing to Liquid Snake though.
