There were so many good games in that era. I really want to see a return to that kind of stuff.

I do think RE and SH are the best, but Dino Crisis is basically Resident evil with dinosaurs.

We could have gotten a PE3 but Motomu Toriyama fucked it up so monumentally bad that Parasite Eve is probably the most dead franchise to ever exist.

It completely baffles me that Capcom didn't go for a new Dino Crisis after Jurassic World was a massive hit.

Its not that they didn't get enough attention, its that the direction they decided to move in put a sour taste in a lot of peoples mouths.

Dino Crisis took the route of Jason X for its 3rd installment, and Parasite Eve decided its next sequel was to be released on a portable that only a fraction of Sony users has access to, or even wanted to collect.

The 3rd Birthday being on the PSP wasn't the problem the problem was that Motomu Toriyama doesn't know how to write for shit without being put on an extremely short leash.

The gameplay and OST were great but the story was such unbelievable dog shit that even Square declared it non-canon.

I had never even heard of both until well into the PS2 gen. Despite reading gaming magazines since I could read. It's really weird how these games never really took off. Got around to playing PE last year and it still holds up.

but tank control games were becoming oversaturated, and the field was so crazily dominated by resident evil at the time that companies felt they needed to make drastic changes in direction with their sequels to separate themselves from the rest.

instead they made a bunch of misses, alienated their fanbases, and ultimately ended up destroying their creations.

this is not related to the fact that most games' plots were really only made with one game in mind. this hurt any potential sequels a ton.

Legally it can't be called Cannon. Square lost the rights to parasite eve, which is a novel.

I liked Parasite Eve, but Dino Crisis was like Resident Evil with dinosaurs, it was so freakin' awesome. I would love to see that game come back, remaster or a new version. I played through the first two Dino Crisis games like 3 times each easily.

1 is survival horror, Resident evil 2 style.

2 is action jurassic Park type game. Better game actually.
