Family member. If you think it's yourself, it's more likely it isn't. Thinking you're the smartest just means you probably write off people who are actually smarter than you in certain areas

I have a friend from college that has worked in the CERN Supercollider in Switzerland and lectures in physics part time. He's certainly the smartest academically I know.

I know a lot of people who are smart at specific subjects. My girlfriend's a speech pathologist, my sister is a genius of string instruments, some of my friends are brilliant artists. Then of course, there are professors I have.

Friend I attended grad school with who got his PhD right after he turned 24 and that was with a delayed graduation since he, like pretty much all grad students, had really started to hate his research and slowed down his output a lot his last couple of years. He used to TA grad courses as an undergrad. I strolled in my first day of grad school and he was already a lab vet even though I'm a couple months older than him.

The other people in that friend group are really smart too though. Two of them have 4 degrees (because two masters each) and the last one (PhD as well) is the math wiz we all turn to for questions.
