Lonesome Road is the last DLC I have to complete for FONV and I'm taking my time going through it, exploring everywhere, and looting everything. Problem is, all that loot despite having the perks to reduce the weight result in me frequently going back to a waypoint with a nearby box to off-load before going back and exploring.

I won't allow myself to get Fallout 4 till it is on sale and till I finish FONV but already I'm dreading my hoarder nature in FO4. Things weren't too bad in FONV until after the Old World Blues DLC and being able to make use of the various junk in the Sink that I feel compelled to pick up every book, can, bottle, etc.

How bad is it when it comes collecting the various junk and crafting parts in FO4? If it matters, I'm tempted to start off with Survival Mode but I feel in between the reduced weight capacity and lack of fast travel that my experience will be less than pleasant.

Comments are appreciated,

Thank you

There was a point in Skyrim that I was obsess with picking up arrows when I missed or missed me. Fortunately I got over that eventually. With Morrowind it wasn't too bad since places rarely have that many items in a cell. Even then, it was easy to boost my weight capacity or use recall to teleport back to my home base to off load.

That's actually why I didn't like New Vegas... I couldn't have as much fun looting as in FO3 and Skyrim

Thinking of it a bit, I think it was easier to manage in Skyrim cause I knew the cells will respawn with everything as it was after I leave for X amount of time so there wasn't really any point to clean up the place. Whereas with FONV, since stuff was finite and didn't respawn, except enemies, I probably felt obligated to loot in case it's ever useful.

Fallout: NV was one of those games where I searched every dwelling, top-to-bottom. I'm a collector of the unnecessary, too :(

I had to learn to stop. But I believe your companion can pick up a bunch or stuff, as well. I don't even know if they have a weight limit, either. I make them pick up a bunch of crap. And then I can fast travel. Then I just trade with them and take it all, save for the items I want them to have. They put it up in my box. It's not too bad. But I did have a problem in that game, too...

Hmm, I should take advantage this. I probably just need to find a mod that makes it easier to manually transfer items without it confirming each time if I want to transfer a stack of six or more. I think the Sink mod that makes organizing much easier but manually transferring to the occasional temporary storage outside of the Sink is a nuisance.

In 4 more shit has a use than it used to, since settlement building is a thing. But bright side is more settlements you build more safe locations to unload your loot.

Iirc too things put in the workshop is shared among all settlements. At least building materials. I wouldnt put weapons armor or healing items in though as iirc settlers can take stuff like that out and use it themselves

Yeah. You have to make a supply line.

Also, I think you can just make your partner pick up stuff without trading it too them. So, they can pick up stuff while you do other things. Or they can pick up stuff while you also pick up stuff. And they give it to them. Haha.

And I agree that with settlement building, you can use a good amount of that stuff. Not to mention all the other uses it had before...

In previous games didn't it hinge on your build? I never invested points into the skill that let me build stuff so collecting junk wasn't a priority.

I'd recommend looting everything for like early game at least. You can make some decent early caps by selling all the useless junk. Fallout 4 everything can be scrapped for material I think.

Idk why, but this reminds me of the caps glitch they had for a while... Not even sure how they found out about it. I actually don't know how they find out about these crazy ass glitches sometimes. Not normal ones that can happen. But like how they did some weird buying and selling an found that glitch... And other stuff like that...

I don't know. You could gamble in New Vegas and just reload if you lost though. It was dumb they set a timer for doing it since it was a single player game.

To try and keep people from cheating. As you know ppl would gripe it's too easy if they didn't put the timer in. I just made my luck 7 so I won enough the timer didn't seem too big a deal

Not saying I would but people do bitch when things are made exploitable. Even if they can simply not do it.

I personally don't care. I don't mind it when a game tries to make me play legit. Only a handful of games would I bitch if they removed the exploits. That said I don't mind it when the devs leave them either.

Yeah it's pretty much a novelty gun. Something fun to mess around with but likely won't be your main weapon of choice.

modded carry capacity :D

That probably would be the easiest and simplest solution. I'm at the point of the game where giving myself infinite capacity isn't gonna ruin my experience.

Ruin in the sense that I wouldn't need to be mindful of how much strength I have nor take into consideration the various perks related to carrying stuff. As odd as it may sound, I feel sometime holding myself back to the in-game limitation adds to the experience. If I make certain aspects too easy or no longer a concern it would make things boring to some degree.

But I'm already level 48 and have been limiting myself to whatever capacity my strength and perks have given me. I might as well enjoy the rest of the DLC without forcing myself to fast travel back and forth between storage boxes.
