That's why they split their company into Alphabet as a way to protect themselves. I think Yelp is the best example of something that Google is trying to throw out, basically you see Google reviews when you search and never have to leave Googles page. Increasingly when you search you will see smart information cards that keep you from having to actually go anywhere but Google for the information you want. Now Google is just putting articles behind their own trackers to monetize that behavior as well.
