But nothing will take the shine away from Phoenix Wright proving to be legit. If anyone ever says, "Only on GameFAQs would Phoenix Wright beat Chris Redfield and Ike," I'll just be like, "You're darn right!" That's a badge of pride for this site.

If 2B = Phoenix Wright:
Ike beats Ness with 53.09%
Shadow beats Chris with 50.22%
Joel beats Cayde-6 with 70.15%

If Bowser = Kirby:
Charizard beats Isaac with 65.81%
Terra beats Guile with 68.97%
Gordon beats Estelle with 53.52%

(For the record, that's the amount +0.01% that Kirby needs to beat Bowser by for Estelle > Gordon in case you guys want something to root for)

I really hope we're not stuck with these for the whole contest. The match pics are like, a third of the reason I'm so invested in these contests. I mean say what you want about the Undertale rally, but it produced some pretty good pics in the final match

So I'm looking at the trends from my country (Brazil) and found some interesting things.

This is SonyFAQs. The PS1 is the strongest console here bar none, and everything that had a peak in PS1 has a peak here. Resident Evil is beastly. Castlevania is beastly. MGS is beastly. MMX is absolute god mode. Aya Brea overperforms like crazy, though she doesn't win R2.

Nintendo is moderately weaker, but how weak varies between characters. Ness is garbage here, but stuff like Mario and Zelda, not that much. Donkey Kong doesn't change. Pokemon is moderately weaker all across the board in R1, though Red flips over Sora and Zard flips over Bowser (even though he loses to Terra).

FF doesn't seem to vary from the global trends. Matches involving FF characters have little change. Same for KH. Frog's match had the same results, but Magus flipped over VIncent and got 55%, so either we don't care about Vincent or CT is a little stronger here. Noctis flipped over Hand, though.

PW seems a little stronger too. Don't ask me why.

Sonic is also considerably stronger, for some reason. The only Sonic character who didn't get higher percentage in R1 was Metal Sonic, which stayed the same, probably because of the stronger MGS I mentioned above.

We care even less about modern gaming than the world average. Ramza almost doubled Garrus. K. Rool flipped his match. Glados was weaker despite pokemon being weaker.

All fighting game characters are stronger too. Chun-Li beat Ganondorf, and Ryu hit 77% in his match.

Bomberman is stronger too and beats Kefka in a close match.

MMX is the big winner here. I might take MMX over Link if the contest was limited to Brazil. Both Zero and MMX got nearly 90% in their R1 matches, and Zero got 73% on Knuckles. No idea what this says about Mega Man Classic, though.

I don't know how much you folks care about this stuff but hey, it's stats. I'm posting it because I love stats. Brazil is probably only about 2% of the gameFAQs userbase though, looking at geographical polls, but hey, maybe we help MMX win a close match over Luigi/Tifa.

He would have lost to Tidus in any contest prior to CB IX. Him beating Leon was an even bigger surprise.

I mean geographically, not temporarily.

In Brazil, DK only got 50.3% on Leon.

Him being ahead of Leon at all is an improvement. I blamed his first victory on the death of FF, but after beating Leon is when I realized he's just gotten stronger.

As I recall, in the 2015 contest they mentioned they'd have tweeted in support of W3 if they'd found out about the contest in time. While I feel like Geralt should be able to squeak by Simon via natural strength, his subsequent match with Bayonetta is a foregone conclusion otherwise.

people have not played his recent games. Adventures was solid but 64 was the last great game he had. U was 64 with fresh paint and a control scheme nobody really wanted.

oh and Assault was ok, but it was short. maybe the multiplayer was good? never tired that.

Yeah, I'd wager most of the voters haven't played a Star Fox game other than Star Fox 64. I know I haven't! Well, other than a little bit of Adventures. Fox benefits a lot from being a good character in most Smash games, too.

Oh, I missed this post from earlier. The last time they met, RE5 hadn't been released yet, so it makes sense that it'd be closer now. Shadow is probably the same character he's been for a decade plus now in terms of strength. He's above the fodder line, but just barely.

everybody knows fox from being high/top tier in all smash games so far (although this looks to change in Ultimate where everybody has agreed he was ass in the Ultimate demos), plus ultimate is now less than a month away

maybe people cared about fox from star fox before, but this power has to be mostly from smash now. SF hasn't gotten a game anybody wanted since... 64. Zero was ruined by the controls, and we already know how people thought about the Cube titles. And Star Fox 2, a game running at a whole 10fps, is definitely not going to boost anybody from Star Fox
