bad idea. the character starts off as a cutthroat rebel with no honor and a really bad moral code, who only goes through a bit of development over the course of the series.

the problem is you know an animated disney cartoon is not gonna portray him with the way he was introduced to us at the beginning of the movie, and will be completely tonally inconsistent in the interest of making him a more 'standard' protagonist for their cartoon.

I can't believe they're turning Cassian into a princess with singing animal sidekicks. At least the songs are written by Lin-Manuel Miranda so maybe some of them will be good.

haha anyway now that I see this is not a cartoon I am vaguely interested. I actually liked rogue one a lot, and from my experience there have been a few decent live action shows that disney has produced. okay, granted, those were mostly comedies... and I liked them when I was a teenager... but hey, I guess we can wait and see.

I still have a feeling they will probably make him less morally gray for the show (instead of having a scummy lead), but I guess there's no way to know for sure until it happens.

Damn, I assume Felicity Jones has no interest in the role, otherwise this probably would have been a show about Jyn Erso. And I would have died because more Jyn is all I have ever wanted.

I'll still watch a show about Cassian, though I am much less excited about him.

I wouldn't take this seriously. They already tried to get a live-action Star Wars show going back in the late 00's, and it fell through because it was way too damn expensive. Even if they have Disney money, there's no way in hell this is happening, and if it is, it's going straight to Netflix to die in obscurity.

Given how RO ends and how Cassian acts as it begins, it feels like this is a doomed idea.

I was talking to my brother about this and I was saying how it doesn't make sense, since Cassian already begins Rogue One as a heartless bastard and begins melting his icy heart as the movie goes on, so there won't be any character development for him to have since he'll need to stay a static asshole for the whole series to be the same when Rogue One starts.

My brother suggested that maybe he'll have the reverse arc- he'll be an optimistic rebel with a heart of gold to begin with and slowly become more ruthless as repeated losses against the empire break him down as a person and turn him into the guy who kills his friend at the start of Rogue One.

I guess that could be interesting.
