Skyfall was the only weird exception to Bond making a billion dollars, and I still don't quite get it coming off the heels of QoS. But then by Spectre people stopped caring again.

I like Spectre. It's a totally acceptable middle of the road Bond movie. Some of the subplots dilute it, but it's good fun action with some slight Moore-era flavor.

It's not about his physical attractiveness. I can't judge that. I like femininity. I'm talking about his overall personality and attitudes on sex. He only cares about cuckolding the bad guy (Casino Royale, Skyfall) and will avoid sex (Spectre) to carry out a mission. It's one of the defining things which makes Bond who he is and they intentionally neglect it.

Well its difficult. Lets ignore the soyboys and tumblrinas for a second. Bonds actor must be:

- British
- have dark hair and pale skin (think pierce brosnan)
-not be part of another franchise.
- elegant, not brutal

Even Craig was a bad choice: blonde and unrefined.

Finding a good replacement is HARD. The only guy I see doing it is Fassbender.

Adding to that, right around quantum of solace the tumblr and soy population fixed their crosshairs on James Bond, as the objective of their haha! We took this away from you! Soypower! Crusade.

They want 007 to be a woman (because, people change genders all the time!), or transsexual or black (especially Idris Elba, who is no spring chicken himself), or gay.

No actor that looks the part of bond will touch this with a 10 foot pole because he will get called a white patriarchal shitlord and get sent poop bags in the mail.

Craig was bond before that soy tsunami, so he can carry the franchise for one more movie.

The best they can do now is let the franchise rest 10 years or until the soy level has been controlled so we can have another actor that looks and sounds like bond play the part

I just thought of something. Most if not all the themes they tried to do with Bond in the Craig have been done and done better in previous movies. They brought up Bond being a "relic of the Cold War" and his other faults in Goldeneye and the close relationship between Judi Dench's M and Bond grew over the Brosnan films.

People talk about how the Bond films don't really link to one another, but there was an arc there in those movies. Bond at first thinks M may not be competent as her predecessors as she is a woman, but soon gains respect for her when she tells him she is quite capable and has no problems sending a man to die on a mission. Their relationship grows and we can see that in The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day.

The thing is, all they're doing is adapting Bond to modern movie sensibilities. The corny charm of the previous movies worked well within their own time, but today they would feel like a deliberate recreation of past sensibilities. I guess I just described the word retro, whatever.

Daniel Craig has been in two good movies, but I have always held that he's the anti-Bond. He's a dull, bitter, sexless antihero. There's nothing wrong with him being an antihero. But he's meant to be suave and hyper-sexual. Craig is as suave as a rusty nail and only cares about sex when he's cuckolding the villain to prove he's the alpha male. You couldn't be further away from 007 if you tried. The cards and alcohol are also missing in action.

They've had the same writer since Tomorrow Never Dies. It's clear he was never a fan of the things that make 007 who he is. I don't know why they keep using him. Bond doesn't have to be a chauvinist. It's better to leave that in the past. But he should be classy, he should be a romantic, and his movies should have an element of fun.

For the most part, Bond movies were cartoon shows for adults. It'd be more profitable to get back to that. And if you want to be dramatic, which has served Bond well in movies like Casino Royale and From Russia With Love, be dramatic. But be Bond. Don't be whatever the hell Daniel Craig is. It's like they rebooted the series with Red Grant as the star instead of Bond.

I mostly agree with this. I like Craig as Bond, but the franchise as a whole could benefit from a number of changes.

Whenever I picture what Bond is supposed to look like its usually Pierce Brosnan. I dont know why, Ive only ever seen one of his Bond movies & it was once.

I think that's the same for a lot of people, including myself. Probably has to do with him being Bond when most of us were children. I think Connery, Moore, and Dalton were all better too, but Brosnan is the first one I picture when I think of James Bond.

You implied that Craig's Bond was better than Connery's because Connery's Bond was sexist. I'm saying that, if that early sexism is justification enough to undermine the core aspects of who and what 007 is as a character, then you might as well do the same with Superman on account of that early installment racism.

If we have a Bond who doesn't drink, doesn't gamble, doesn't sleep around, and is as suave as a urinary infection, then we might as well have a Superman who goes around beheading people. (Just so long as he's an equal opportunity axe murderer.) God of War is popular. Have Superman chase trends. It worked for Bond when he copied Batman Begins and The Bourne Identity.

Frankly I don't think the Craig movies are any worse than the other Bond movies. All Bond films are action thrillers of their time. I agree that his movies were a bit silly and stupid, but literally all Bond films are silly and stupid.

Casino Royale was such a fantastic movie that we expected Bond to be great from here on out like the batman duologoy or the mission impossibles movies 4-6.

You could maybe make an argument for spectre being fun silly and stupid, but it would be stretching it. Nothing wrong with silly and stupid if the movies are fun, but craig movies weren't. They were utterly humorous which made them unintentional funny but not in a good way, in a worse than austin powrs kind of way
