Most people have friends, their own family is probably closer to them than their baby, and then even general acquaintances might be more sad to hear it were they likable. After a while, in my head she became less of a loud rat and more of a little girl. I thought she was lost one day and almost cried, which is really weird for me to think about. I'll still jolt awake if she gets in my room while I'm sleeping. I'll immediately have a nightmare about dogs. Can't fix the subconscious. I'll be in the kitchen and she'll sneak up behind me, when I turn around and see her I actually jump a good foot into the air. I never go in the front door because that makes her growl, always the garage. I like her, but I also think she's directly responsible for my anxiety issues. People being more connected to the parents is indeed true in most cases but by extension they probably would care for the baby too in some way.
