I say Geralt. Yes, he was in a weak half-division, but he still managed to win it, and even though most people on this site would only know him because of video games, his success still weakens the case for "characters originating in other media wouldn't do well here". And if that means we get a mega-contest next time with lots of characters from other media as well, I'm fine with that. (Of course, knowing Allen, it'll still be the same size as usual and then our contest stalwarts will be in danger of missing contests. Though honestly, do people still bother nominating the Noble Nine anymore or are they just grandfathered in? I know Board 8 is usually too busy with their rallies to bother with many contest veterans, and iirc this year we had an inordinate amount of control over the bracket because of the difference in time that nominations were available to us.)

Co-MVP with Alucard for his run being one of the most impressive runs from a non Square/non Nintendo entrant in a long time.

Zelda for having the straight up most impressive performances across the board.

Aw HECK yeah!

Yes B8 made up a larger % of the nominations than in the past, but I still think the Noble Nine would be fine with getting enough support to make the bracket. I remember years back SB said Link got something like 8000 nominations in a year when only 12 came from B8.

...that being said, I'd prefer to use this year's format for the All Fictional Battle, with the newcomers facing all the best in the baby bracket before graduating to taking on the NN in Legends.

Alucard, I am also impressed with X and Zero and how well they ended up doing, all things considered.

It's gotta be Alucard. Winning the division (only 1 guru predicted that) was pretty awesome.
2nd for me is Tifa, pretty much every serious bracket had Luigi/X/Tifa/Mewtwo winning the division and Tifa threw down the gauntlet on the other 3
3rd is Zelda, though between her/Alucard/Tifa I'd say she has the best chance at making a deep run. Could be star of the contest by the end of it.

I dont know if Id go as far as calling him the star of the contest, but Bowser has had a low key great year so far. He got one of the killer blowouts of the season on Gordon, redeemed his loss to Charizard in a big way, and then solidly disposed of Kirby for the division despite Kirbys impressive performances.

His only misfire has been 2B, but maybe enough credit wasnt given to Ness and Shadow in confirming 2Bs strength. And its not over, because Bowser vs Alucard is something to watch for in the Losers bracket.

Bowser and Pikachu have looked like demons this contest. I half expect them to fold from here, but still. Impressive stuff.

Zen's absolutely been the star of the contest so far, no question about that.

As for actual characters, Alucard, Zelda, and Tifa are all really good choices.

I say Geralt due to how unexpected I personally felt it was for him to even get so far despite being the top seed in his divison. Such a travasty he's barely gotten any votes in this poll so far. And the other 3 non-other options are contest regulars already so yeeeeah.
