I highly, highly recommend that you watch it. I was thinking the same thing during first episode especially because the theme of the season seemed kinda dumb. For me, this is a top 5 season right now. Definitely my favorite overall cast without any returning players. I don't know who I want to win because they're all so likeable lol.

I forgot I made this topic. To all those who aren't familiar with the show, the contestants vote people out as the game progresses. There are hidden immunity idols that if you find and play when others are planning to vote you out, their votes are not counted. Last night, an advantage that has never existed before in more than 30 seasons of the show was played. The player with it had to anticipate that an idol was played, as well as who played it, in order for it to work. It canceled the vote-nullifying idol and the votes in turn were counted. It was played correctly, and the "safe" player was voted out. This has never happened before and was never possible to happen before. In nearly 40 seasons, the show has evolved to make players play 6d stratego to succeed, where as in season one, succeeded meant just forming a majority voting block alliance.

To all those who do watch, I wouldn't say it's top 5. I agree the initial theme was lame, but also that it has risen above it and is a quality season that has remained exciting. Personally, I am rooting for, in order of preference: Christian (having a Camaroan Cochran edit but on first try), Gabby (favorable edit, but I don't see her winning against Christian), Davie (central to story but likely to fade a bit), Carl (played the idol nullifier successfully but possible one-trick-pony moving forward). The original Goliaths seem to be fucked. The older dude Mike(?) has had a consistently decent edit, but his distrust of Gabby may mean his best chances are to be last "Goliath" standing. Momentum doesn't mean everything on survivor but the overwhelmingly "David"-heavy edit suggests they maintain momentum now that they are tied in numbers and can use an advantage to take the majority.

He finished in a respectable 5th place out of 18 in his season. He has not returned for any additional seasons, though I'm fairly surprised by that.

Any boob slips

Yes. Boob slips, penis slips and vagina slips have all happened. In one episode, a woman had her top ripped off entirely and didn't care, going on to win her leg of the challenge and then flip off her opponent (who intentionally ripped her top off) while still topless upon winning her leg. I have not seen uncensored footage personally, but the topless woman was a pin-up model and appeared naked (full frontal) on the Showtime series Weeds a few years later (season 6 iirc), where she played a roller derby chick.

Which season are they currently on honchkrow?

I've been a big fan for a long time so I'm embarrassed for having to have looked it up, but the current season is 37, and it is unlikely that the show will end before at least 40 seasons at this rate. CBS has been renewing it for 2 seasons at a time pretty much since inception and while ratings have not stayed optimal, it is a still a renew for a year (2 seasons) reality show indefinitely.

I'll give it a watch for background noise. Thanks. What part of the world are they doing it on shellder?

right now, Fiji. First went there in season 14. Used to be "new location every season" and that was the base gimmick of seasons, but starting in seasons 10-20, they would randomly return to previous locales and use other gimmicks involving the format or the cast. After season 20, it became common to revisit or remain in previously-used locales and add gimmicks to make new subtitle seasons. If you look at the seasonal list, you'll see that in the first 20 seasons, all were subtitled by locale except All-Stars (S8, filmed in Panama following S7 "Pearl Islands" in the same location, as well as S12, "Exile Island" filmed also in Panama but with a format gimmick, and S20 "Heroes vs. Villains" also filmed in Samoa after S19 "Samoa," though S16 "Micronesia" was filmed as a mixed "Fans vs. Favorites" cast was filmed in the same location as S10 "Palau" but was not advertised as being a return location. Since season 20, all new locations have been reused at least once, and locations from prior to S20 have been revisited (such as Fiji). From 21-37, only 3 new countries have been filmed in... Nicaragua, Philippines and Cambodia.

How far did Johnny Nitro/Morrison/Mundo/Impact/whatever get? Him being in this season made me consider watching Survivor for the first time in 10 years, but it's in the same time slot as Lucha Underground (ironically one of the shows where Johnny wrestles) so I had to nix the idea.

Name? Probably fits a bunch of people, but gimme a name and I can probably tell ya from memory lol. Some middle seasons (13, 14) were heavy "recruitment" (as opposed to fan audition) seasons.

I was floored by that. I had no idea he was trans. Even after that happened, I went out of my way to look for chest scars in scenes where he had no shirt. I didn't see any. It was his second season playing and he had presented himself simply as a gay man the first time. The man who outed him was voted out that night and several tribemates were angered to tears. He himself cried and apologized. He had used the information as leverage to try and paint the trans man as disingenuous for holding his secret from the others. The others rightfully felt that the secret was out of bounds to be used as a gameplay tactic or leverage point. The host was floored and there was no official vote. Essentially, host said "y'all voting this dude out for this?" and they all nodded and the dude was like "yeah I fucked up and I deserve it" and that was that. It was not malicious though and the outer was himself gay, and realized he had done a massive disservice to the LGBT+ community. I haven't heard much follow up on that. I'm sure he's suffered for it, though I hope he has been forgiven. He just knew he was likely to be voted out and used that information to try and turn it around for him but hurt everyone in the process, himself included. The trans man was voted out not long after in a power struggle, his personal identity being a non-factor, though it is possible that he was seen as a pity-threat for having been subjected to being outed in such a fashion.

It was shitty, for sure, but within the context of the show, a person was in danger of being voted out and used personal confided information to try and save himself, and upon doing so, realized how much hurt he caused and fully regretted it. Not something to be condoned by any means, but to people who aren't familiar with the show, in the media, it was likely made out to be more of a hurtful and malicious act than it in reality was. I can't remember if it was season 34 or 35, but the subtitle was "Game Changers" for anyone interested in looking it up.

If so, that would make sense. She first appeared in season 13, which fits my recruit knowledge there >_>. In that season, she finished 6th out of 20. She returned in season 16. she won it. She returned again in season 20. She was 1st runner up, finishing 2nd with 3/9 jury votes.

Which one married Boston Rob

Spoilers from seasons 2, 4, 8 and 22 in the tags below...

Amber from season 2. She had finished 6th out of 16 in her season. He had finished 10th of 16 in season 4, but was a big personality in that time. He partially blew up his own game, but he made a stronger "posthumous" impact than anyone before him in that the alliance that eliminated him was subsequently demolished and the people he had tried to align with saw that he had been right all along and took control of the game. He was ahead of his time. In All-Stars (S8), the two met and aligned and really hit it off, becoming a tentative couple. It was kinda cute actually. They were both like "I want to go to the end with you... but can I trust you? I don't know..." Ultimately, she got fucked over by a twist, but he pulled strings with his personal relationships with others in the game (they had all played before and all knew each other personally. This had NEVER happened before. In all previous seasons, all players were strangers). Ultimately, his string pulling worked and the two of them took control of the game and made it to the end together with a Blue Lagoon sort of romantic backdrop. They got raked through the coals by a jury of people they fucked over in the process. Rob was in tears. He literally said "I don't care if you don't vote for me to win. I met Amber. I already won. If I don't deserve the money, fair enough, give it to her. It's all the same." Between that vote and the reveal, he proposed and talked to her parents, and made the proposal official in the finale. The jury voted her winner 4-3. Obviously neither cared. The whole time they played together, both were like "he/she is awesome omg I'm falling in love but wtf do I trust him/her? What if it's bullshit?" Something about that actually makes me not roll my eyes lol. There's something real and authentic about it. Afaik they are still married. Rob went on to win season 22. It was his 4th try and the season was basically rigged for him to win because of the theme. Still, neat storyline in American reality TV history...

edit: ugh it's getting late and I have to work tomorrow and we have a sale so I should fuck off CE -_-

Hey man :D

Christian and Gabby right? I'm gonna call it now. They feel classic 1-4 to me. Strong full-game allies who make the final 4, with one vote out as final juror and the other winning. It's a massive archetype. It applied to 1st and 3rd in seasons with a final 2. Cody and I are both veterans of losing and 3rd in final 2. We both have wins too though lol.

Those two have that vibe. The other contenders will have 2 "goats" (as in scapegoats like people the eventual winner believes they can beat in the end)

Christian is obviously a favorite and the camera loves him. I'm just wondering how long it takes the Davids to flip on him. It also happens all the time when people are seen as threats and everyone is just like "oh we'll get them next vote" until there are no tribals left. It's rare to see someone be targeted every single week so I'm hoping he's safe for now.

Gabby is an interesting case. I don't think her or Christian would ever turn on each other, but she does struggle on her own. They also struggle in challenges so they might need help if they make it to the end. I'm still rooting for her to better herself. She's not a target at least.

I also thought it was hilarious that Allison had her vote stolen. She flipped like three times the day before tribal and acting like she was going to make a big move and everyone loved her on both sides. Now she's regretting not going all in with the Davids big time.
