It's got a lot of good ports, from the looks of things, but they're all games I own on other systems; sometimes multiple systems (eg. FFX, which I own on PS2, PS3, PS4, Vita and PC).

Switch has an amazing library, but it is true that five or less of its best games aren't playable elsewhere, would say the same about all consoles these days though, except maybe the 3DS and DS.

I mean. If I had no consoles and was getting my first one or something, Switch could be a very viable option. But when I've already got a PS4, a PC and a Vita - and I need a decent PC for non-gaming reasons, and I've had the other two since before the Switch was out (in the Vita's case, before the Switch was even announced) - there's no point. What would be in it for me... a generic platformer, and a dumbed-down fighting game starring characters from said generic platformer?

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely realize his significance in gaming history, but let's face it, the actual Mario games have been average at best for a long time. Perhaps "generic platformer featuring a notable character" would have been a better way to state my point. Even then though, he's mostly significant for what early games featuring him achieved; had he been introduced as a new character today, he'd probably be a forgotten indie game character at best.

I got it secondhand for like $100 (US$70), and I mostly just wanted it to play FFX on the go (though I also picked up quite a few good indies via PS Plus on it, most notable ones being Spelunky and La-Mulana).

Some of the Microsoft Surface tablets have gaming-capable specs aside from the GPU. I figure it's only a matter of time until someone sees the market for a gaming PC in a Switch-like form factor and one shows up, then you can literally play Steam games on the go.
