Poll of the Day > Getting a Switch for Christmas. Any games I should pick up?

I am planning to get Mario Kart and Mario Party (my wife's only request after letting me get it). Will likely get Smash Bros soon after. Any games you would suggest? I plan to get Zelda and other Mario games eventually as well.

Mario Rabbids is really fun

There are some multi platform indies like Dead Cells and Stardew Valley that are perfect fits on the switch imo

Some indies I like for it were The Binding of Isaac, Crypt of the NecroDancer, and Rogue Legacy. And the first two have multiplayer. I like the Warriors games, as well. They also have multiplayer. At least, I know for sure HWDE does...

I'm not a fan of Mario Tennis Aces, personally.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2, I have put way too much time into it. People say it is not as good as the first Xenoblade Chronicles but I think it is still great. And Smash when it gets released.

Also any of the Wii U games that they ported over that you haven't played on Wii U. I played pretty much all of them on Wii U and they are fantastic.

Mario Odyssey is an absolute must-have. Phenomenal game. Other than that, Zelda and Smash, obviously. Xenoblade 2 is awesome, Monster Hunter is amazing if you like MH games, Mario x Rabbids is surprisingly good, and if you don't have it on WiiU, Hyrule Warriors is really good (if you like/are interested in trying Warriors games).

I can second that, even if said second player isn't much of a gamer. It's a delightfully accessible co-op puzzle game that's loads of fun and extremely easy to pick up. It's also fun to watch, which makes it a solid party game despite most of the content being 2-player.

When you share finances, you do indeed have to seek approval from other involved parties before making a large purchase. Otherwise you end up with some tension.

Yeah Mario Oddysey will be one of the first pick ups. I am such a big Mario fan. I also was considering Splatoon 2. Lot of other good suggestions. Golf Story looks cool. After reading about Hyrule Warriors think I will pick that up. And any Fire Emblem game is a must. I am pretty psyched about it now.

Note that Fire Emblem Warriors is a spinoff game done in the Warriors style, not a regular FE game. There is a regular FE game coming down the pipes at some point, so that'll be something to look forward to, but for now,the system doesn't have one.

I haven't gotten around to grabbing it myself, yet, but my understanding is that it is a pretty solid game in its own right. I just figured you should be fully informed.

Might as well just get Zelda from the get go, because youre definitely going to get it anyway... Only game ever to have a 102% attach rate! Thats right, more copies of Breath of the Wild for Switch were sold than Switches themselves... At launch.

Zelda and Mario Odyssey are must haves in my opinion.

There are other good games beyond that but those two are by far the best on Switch. I got a Switch with the Cyber Monday deals and went after those two, I also bought Golf Story which I haven't gotten a chance to play yet.
