Massive franchise is like Gundam and Macross

One Piece anime is a huge waste of time that you can use to watch both Gundam and Macross multiple times

I'm sure it would only take a simple google search to sort out, but stuff split into multiple shows usually triggers my laziness aversion too because I never know what to watch or in what order

Hang on, with UC I'm the kind of person who wouldn't rec full broadcast order.

Like, I'd put things like War of the Pocket/08th/Stardust Memory as things to check out before jumping to Zeta. Though I wouldn't rec Origin before 79.

0080 and 0083 should be watched after the original 0079+Zeta

their value is in the fact that you know what happened imo

The Origin should be saved for last, and is really only for Char fanboys

ideally my recommendation for starting Gundam would be something like

Gundam Wing > Gundam 00 > UC in airing order > Gundam X > SEED/Destiny > Ironblood Orphans

I would avoid G Gundam because it's technically only Gundam in name (I'm sure a lot of people that have only watched G Gundam will tell me I'm wrong and that it's the best Gundam) and should be watched as something entirely separate

Monster is a great show, but I do think the way its paced ends up being a double edged sword at times.

Also, the anime has been notoriously difficult to watch legally unless you own physical copies in the past. Not sure how it is now.

and Ironblood Ophans should not be a jumping in point, because it's a show directed by someone that's not a Gundam fan and only did the show with the intent to "subvert" the traditional Gundam tropes while trying to ape "depressed Tomino"

Looks like this is on Crunchyroll for easy watching, so if it's a good place to start I might check it out. No guarantee I'll move past it unless I like it and I'll probably watch it really slowly, so fair warning on that.

Aria S1 will no longer be the earliest anime I've seen! That's neat

I went

UC timeline order up to CCA/F91->Gundam Victory-> Gundam G ->Gundam Wing->Gundam X(the best one)->Turn A->Gundam Seed/Destiny->Age->Build Fighters->IBO

I would say G-Reco is the only non-SD Gundam show that should be skipped even if Tomino was involved.

that's a tall order imo, because it places too much emphasis on experiencing UC first (specifically Tomino's UC) which either breeds a UC elitist or turns a newbie off from Gundam entirely, not to mention finding a place to watch Tomino UC is hard

modern mecha is either influenced from Evangelion or 2000s Gundam so it would be easier for someone to jump into something like Wing (which started the modern Gundam bishounen leads) and if he likes mindless fun he could go back in time

I would also avoid AGE and G Reco. I only sat through those because I'm a huge fan of Gundam but those two are probably studio killing shows if not for the Gundam name

Moderate Iroduku spoilers

The ending was pretty satisfying, and I'm rarely happy with endings. Wasn't too sappy but also didn't make me not care at all. I think they got it just right. The show as a whole was fairly enjoyable, but just a tad lacking with some of the side characters and the pacing. Visuals were pretty great though, and I did quite like Hitomi as the protagonist which is kinda rare with her archetype. I don't know if I'd necessarily recommend it, but it's worth a watch for anyone considering it, although I doubt it'll be particularly remembered by many.

I just really wanted Hitomi to meet back up with everyone in the future (maybe not Yuito, that would be awkward. I imagine that grave in the ending montage was probably his). Still, I enjoyed how it went too.

That's what I thought with the grave, but I don't know what they would've done with meeting them regardless. There was already a climax earlier and it might've been hard to incorporate another. I really liked the picture book and I thought that tied things up nicely, although I was kinda expecting some future meetings. Her interaction with granny Kohaku was kinda sweet, though.

Okay but why in the fuck didn't we get to see a picture of the other animals during the book narration. That's the thing I'm most annoyed about with the final.

I also read the graveyard as her mother's, not Yuta's but.

I suppose it could be anyone's grave, that's probably why they didn't show it. I like the idea of her mother still being out there somewhere, and the sadness of Yuito having died before they could meet again.

Finished Bloom Into You. Absolutely fantastic show. I've been a fan of yuri for a while now, but this completely blows away any other yuri series I've watched, and most standard romance anime on top of that.

My one hope for this series is that nobody passes it up just because it's a yuri show. Well...if you dislike yuri on principle, then avoiding the show is probably a good idea. But, I say that because I think it avoids a lot of the issues that have been in other yuri series I've watched. It portrays a romantic relationship that is both tangible (ie. not undertones) and believable, while avoiding the soap opera melodrama and the fanservice-y elements you might find in a show like Citrus, for example. It is just a down-to-earth romantic drama about the interactions of believably flawed characters as they try to find fulfillment. The writing is consistently strong enough to make that type of story fun and engaging, and the music and directing in the series are top notch.

Not that I haven't said this before, but I really loved this show.

To say something about the ending point: Of course this is a reasonable but not ideal place to end the series, and I really hope the anime gets a season 2 someday. I wasn't really bothered by the lack of a real ending though, especially when the journey is as good as it is. I will say though that I've known for a while from reading Reddit threads that the show was never going to go through enough of the manga to even reach the cultural festival. So, I've been approaching this anime as part of a whole rather than as a self-contained story for the most part. People with different expectations may end up disappointed though

Holy fucking shit that fight between Spec and Hanayama. That was a fucking wild ride. One minute Spec is winning, next second Hanayama. Next thing Spec turns it around and it looks like Hanayama is done. Shit, nevermind, Hanayama just kicked the shit out of Spec. But wait, Spec just turned into a walking armory. Oh no, but Hanayama's got this. Well shit, Spec just got him in an unbreakable hold. Oh no, Hanayama just blew his arm up. What the fuck that was so fucking amazing. Holy shit.
