Catching your partner cheating is never pleasant at the best of times - in fact, it can be the act to end it all.

"It was my mum's funeral, my boyfriend and my dad were caught having a bit of sexy time in the toilets by my auntie. And apparently it was going on for two years," the listener added.

"Nooooo," both Jono and Ben reacted, which feels appropriate. "No way that is crazy," Jono added.

"No-one ever expected that," the woman agreed. "I definitely did not expect either of them to be gay or... have any of that in them."

"And the timing is not great," Ben pointed out, to which the woman agreed: "Yeah, it was terrible timing."

The woman said she didn't really talk to either ex-boyfriend or father after the incident, and said she wasn't sure if they were still together.

"How randy do you have to be... like at a funeral as well?" Jono asked.

Probably pretty randy, but it turns out the setting isn't all that uncommon, even if the specifics are.

Diana Kirschner, a psychologist and author of Love in 90 Days: The Essential Guide to Finding Your Own True Love, told the Observer she believes funeral romps can serve as "diversions" from dealing with death.

Kirschner pointed out that funerals may be fertile ground for romantic encounters because mourners are more "emotionally open" than guests attending other social functions.

"There's more potential for a true emotional connection ... Funerals cut down on small talk.

the hosts are NZ "comedians"/tv personalities btw. definitely a staged call by jono and ben. sounds like banter they'd make up for their radio show. there are always outrageous calls like this on their time slot that never happen during listener calls at any other time of the day. now that they don't have a TV show anymore they need to stay relevant somehow i guess.
