Not counting RE: Damnation (100% with only 5 reviews), it's a tie between Rampage and the latest Tomb Raider from what I've seen

If we're only including movies that got a theatrical release in the west, then the highest-scoring video game movie was The Power of Us, which got 60%.

Detective Pikachu really needs to stay over 60%, it would finally end the whole "bad video game movie curse", at least from a Rotten Tomatoes perspective, and give the message that a video game movie can be well-received from both audiences and critics.

Because let's face it, we don't want The Power of Us to be the film that's above all video game based films. That does not give a good impression.

I still think animated adaptations of VGs provides better results right now.

As likely as it is that some people will say the noble nine hasn't been broken when the next contest starts.

I mean Tim Goodman is literally the name of the main character of the Detective Pikachu game. It's a very hard sell to claim this movie isn't a video game movie.

Yes, -5 is the new banned. Several user levels were overhauled recently and got renumbered (Banned moves to -5, Locked moves to -2, Unverified added as a new level).

detective pikachu the movie beated

had timid expectations because honestly all i needed to be sold on seeing was real life pokemons and I didn't really care what the story would be, but man the back half just exploding with twists and I was into it

but yeah Pikachu was really selling the movie so much with the comedy as expected

Did they say what experiment was being done on the Greninja? If they aren't Protean their Dark type should have protected them from Psyduck's Psychic attacks.

The fact that nothing for Sword/Shield has been revealed outside of the announcement trailer doesn't mean that they won't spoil most of the game. For both XY and SM, we had to wait until the second Tuesday in May to get our second trailer (after the announcement trailer). If this holds up for Sword/Shield, then we're looking at a trailer dropping in just 3 days from now, which would be our second Tuesday in May.

Apprantly, in one of the showing (probably in more than one though) here in Israel, during the movie's intermission, a man in a Detective Pikachu costume entered the theater and began dancing

It's...pretty neat, and I didn't hear about this happening somewhere else. But I also can't believe this is something exclusive to Israel because we are never good in this kind of thing

Just saw it.
All the Easter eggs in it made it so much better as a fan. Anyone who grew up with Pokemon will appreciate them.

the foreshadowing with the Ditto becoming a security guard was so subtle that you realize it just as it happens but the fucking eyes. Funniest thing all movie.

This was a great movie. Child me would have lost his mind if he saw it.

I think the best part about this movie is how aware of who is going to see this movie. The fans of it back in the day would be adults now, and a lot of them have kids. So they included a lot of subtle adult jokes and a bunch of call backs to the really old school gen 1 stuff and the early days of the anime.

I was really happy to watch it, and frankly that's all I really need from a children's movie.

The stuff about the intern girl's job being making clickbait top 10 lists was probably my favorite joke. Because that is such a low quality job they would absolutely make a poor intern do.

Saw it last night.

Was alright. 6.5/10 for me about.

I was really excited at the start seeing and trying to spot lots of different pokemon walking around the streets but pretty early on you start to realize that the only pokemon walking around are Charmanders, Growlithes, Sneasels, Treeckos, Emolgas, and then a few others.

I get reusing assets and trying to work with what you've got but I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed to see Charmander for the 100th time walking around. (AND I LIKE CHARMANDER)

There were some funny bits and others that really didn't make much sense.

I was hoping someone could explain to me what in the world even happens that leads up to Pikachu dying.

This is what I saw happened. A giant boulder is heading down towards Tim and Co and it's like oh no! But then it's just a tiny pebble and it hits pikachu and he falls over kind of pathetically. Then they all jump into the river and swim to shore and now Pikachu is dying.

?????????

Are we assuming that the tiny pebble that hit pikachu like, went into him or something and because it's a kids movie, it was just made super vague and awkward? Or was there like, something else that I completely missed that caused Pikachu to all of a sudden be dying.

Anyways, Ryan Reynolds did a really good job overall and really helped to save the movie from possibly being not that good at all and while I did have my issues with a few things, it was still fairly fun overall. The ending kinda sucked tbqh but meh. Ditto twist was fun.
