Sure tons!!
And if you work during the day, it can be amazing for coming home to super delicious meals!! Tons of things its good for: Chili (slow cooked all day, super yum, with tender steak bits). Chicken (roasted chicken, cover with a bit of grey poupon mustard, fill cavity with 1/2 onion, rest sprinkled around the outside, pepper, bell pepper, 1/2 stick of non-salted butter), on low all day. Roasts. Always get chuck roast, make sure it's a chuck and not a round/rump etc, there is a huge difference. Also slow cook all day, sear the roast first, add a bit of tomatoe sauce (prego works well), season all/garlic/onions/bell peppers to the pot. It adds flavor if you use some caberete sovingion as well but simmier on the stove first to remove the alcohol. So delicious (if slow cooking for this and the chicken, I suggest doing the veggies/potatoes seperate so they are crunchy and yum when you get home. Pasta sauce is great, especially if you like meatballs or itallian sausage. You can start with prego base (Saves time), go with whatever flavor you like (I usually do basil or garlic ones), add about 1/3 a pound of ground beef per bottle of prego sauce and 1 itallian sausage link (mild), cut up and broken into pieces, per 2 (I still only use 1 if I make 3 jars at once). Brown the meats, then add them to the crock pot, add the sauce to the crock pot, again, adds flavor to simmer some wine (red) and add that as well. Add 1 bell pepper (broken into 3 large pieces for easy removal), and some very finely diced onions. For the meatballs, add spices to the meat, mix well, then make them into little mini flying saucers (more flat then round..but thick). This lets you char more of the outside, do that to all of them and add them to the sauce (you can sautee the onions now if you want as well). Finally brown the rest of the itallian suasages and add them, stir, and cook on slow all day. Tons more, but yeah, a crockpot is awesome when your working and still want really good meals!! --- We are 4 oreos from Heaven!!!! ... Copied to Clipboard!

Oh Irish Boiled Dinner, too. That's super easy to make.
And a seafood boil, I guess. But I usually use a bigger pot to do that. I suppose I could use the crock if I wanted to make a smaller batch. Usually do a seafood boil for summer parties so I tend to make a lot. --- https://imgur.com/ZwO4qO2 Bluer than velvet was the night... Softer than satin was the light... From the stars... ... I love this recipe! You may as well. I call it crock pot pizza.
Spaghetti sauce Pizza sauce (preferably same brand) Rotini noodles Mozzarella and/or provolone cheese Pepperoni (substitute with turkey version for less fat) Parmesan is Garlic bread Layer the ingredients flat into the crock pot. Cook on high for 4 hours. Stir it once every hour. You don't have to boil the noodles first, but I'd recommend it. Start your garlic bread before you want to eat. A lot of crockpot recipes are literally throwing a bunch of ingredients in the pot and letting it stew for a certain length of time. Super easy to cook with a crock.

I wouldn't say a cook book is necessary. For one the internet is a thing. And as mentioned above you literally just throw things in it. You can experiment in your own and make great tasting meals.

You inspired me to get a new crock pot today (well used actually), since I'm not working I have just been making my slow cook recipies in the oven (traditional pot) and I got rid of the crock pot I had because it was huge and there was no room here.
But when I went shopping (safeway finally restocked after yesterday) I decided to stop by the good will next door and see if they had one. They did, for $8.....but...it was 50% off pink tag items (which the crock pot was) so I got it for $4 :) I cleaned it up and have it heating up with just water in it, to make sure it works, and super clean it before using it for a 7 bone pot roast tomorrow. I don't actually NEED a crock pot anymore, but I missed having one, and your post reminded me of that, so THANKS!:) --- We are 4 oreos from Heaven!!!! ... Copied to Clipboard!

I coat it with Grey poupon mustard, stuff it with onions, a bit of butter, garlic and seasoning and it is absolutely falling apart, juicy and delicious. The mustard/onions and spices give it amazing flavor and it just falls apart on your fork it's so juicy and tender. I bought chicken thighs today but i'm just gonna bbq them (didn't get home till after 5pm, so to late to use the crock pot and I wanted to clean it), but tomorrow shall be crock pot 7 bone roast day!!!
