So...I went ahead and did the math on the tombs of terror pre-order bundle on whether the random legendary is worth it.

There's like...10 legendaries I want, like Siamat, Pharosis, most of the explorers, armagedillo, Amet, some quests I don't have, and 4 legendaries I don't want (a couple bad quests and colossus of the moon) which made it very likely to be a relevant legendary for $5.

Went ahead and bought; got...the Shaman Quest. Well that felt like $5 well spent.

(The $15 for the adventure is...probably ok. First wing is free, so that's 3 of the 16 packs, but $15 for 13 packs when one of them is all golden, it's not amazing, but it's fine; better than the $20 last time).

And somehow after a game or two with the new Shaman Quest, I end up playing an odd shaman deck with no quest.

(Basically copied from this list:

https://wildhearths.com/wild-shaman-meta-snapshot-1/

Except I don't have corridor creepers so I substituted Mogu Fleshshapers)

So...warrior is the only class I don't have to 60 yet, and my coworker is going for getting all classes to 60 so I was kind-of inspired to do the same. Except I don't want to spend dust on it, cause I'm missing tons of warrior cards, and IDK if I'll even like the class.

After bouncing around possible decks ended up on this:

### Custom Warrior
# Class: Warrior
# Format: Standard
# Year of the Dragon
#
# 1x (1) Eternium Rover
# 2x (1) Into the Fray
# 1x (1) Town Crier
# 1x (2) Battle Rage
# 2x (2) Frightened Flunky
# 2x (2) Injured Tol'vir
# 2x (2) Neferset Ritualist
# 2x (2) Rampage
# 2x (3) Bloodsworn Mercenary
# 2x (3) Frothing Berserker
# 2x (3) Injured Blademaster
# 1x (3) Livewire Lance
# 1x (3) SN1P-SN4P
# 2x (4) Bone Wraith
# 2x (4) Restless Mummy
# 1x (5) Darius Crowley
# 1x (5) Zilliax
# 2x (6) Damaged Stegotron
# 1x (8) Octosari

#
# To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone

Modified from a deck I saw on CompetitiveHS, the idea is to run self-injuring minions along with Neferset Ritualist and Bloodsworn Mercenary. Throw in some pump spells too so that Bloodsworn Mercenary copies bigger stuff. (Rampages were in the original list. Into the Frays are replacements I made for Armagedillo, but they've been performing well).

Also, I'm amused by this discussion:

https://old.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/d14jww/how_strong_would_this_card_be_at_different_values/

Take Octasori (8 mana 8/8 deathrattle draw 8 cards) and replace all instances of 8 with another number, how strong would it be? What rank order would they be in?

I'm thinking...

1. Tetra-Sari (way too strong to ever print)
2. Penta-Sari (also way too strong to ever print; while everything from 2-5 is obviously busted, I lean towards the higher end as being slightly stronger. Ultimately, the top four are super OP cards, but you'd only have one-of them in your deck, so I'm thinking the bigger OP effect is better than the slightly smaller OP effect)
3. Tri-Sari (also way too strong to ever print)
4. Bi-Sari (also way too strong to ever print--worth noting that this is still incredibly good--2/2 loot hoarder that draws 2)
5. Hexa-Sari (Would be incredibly good, but 6 mana would maybe be awkward for some of the most aggro decks, and draw 6 would be just too much draw to avoid burning cards for some slower decks; it would basically push midrange really hard).
6. Mono-Sari (Fairly printable, given that they printed Kobold Librarian, and wouldn't be overly disruptive, wouldn't feel too bad to play against, but would be in a loooot of decks. Basically a 1 mana loot hoarder).
7. Hepta-sari (A stronger Octo-sari, and a pretty big power increase, but much like Octo-sari would only go into very specific decks like aggro warrior. Just...would be a lot stronger in the same role; costs less, and I'd rather draw 7 than draw 8).
8. Octo-sari (Literally Octo-sari; niche legendary, goes into some midrange/slower aggro decks)
9. Nona-sari (Much weaker octo-sari. Maybe still sneaks into a few decks of that type, but not many)
10. Zero-sari (0 mana 0/0 deathratle draw 0 cards. Really bad, but might have some niches, like instant dying for cult master to cycle through your deck. Notably I don't have it in last...).
11. Deca-sari (10 mana 10/10 draw 10 cards...yeah, the kind of midrange aggro decks that run out of cards soon enough to consider Octo-sari...two more turns is a long time to wait, and you can't avoid overdrawing probably at least two cards with this version).

Fun fact I just discovered: if your opponent plays Loatheb, the only effect it has on Forbidden Words is that the minimum mana you can spend on it is 5. Because my opponent played Loatheb and then I still used the 5 mana to kill it.

Tombs of Terror patch notes: https://playhearthstone.com/en-us/blog/23097372/hearthstone-update-september-10-tombs-of-terror

With a couple of significant changes:
*Discover:
Cards that Discover from a random pool no longer apply a class bonus. As Discover pools have gotten more specific, some are too narrow and repetitive. This change will increase the variety of cards from random Discover pools.

*Elise the Enlightened will now duplicate cards in hand from left to right, instead of randomly

I wonder if the discover change was just a reaction to Warrior discovers + Paladin Stonehill, or if theyre going to print some new discover card next set that would be broken otherwise (See: Mana Wyrm nerf before a couple expansions with small spells.)

Apparently the deck creator now works in wild, and Druid is the only class I don't have at 60, so let's see what happens when I put Reno in there and let it make something for me. Results?

Half of my deck is choose one cards, but it didn't add Stalladris or Staghelm even though I have both of them.

Juicy Psychmelon is in there even though I only have a single minion in each of the 7/9/10 slots and no 8 drop at all.

Florist is my only 7 and Malygos is my only 9, but Living Roots is the only spell in the deck that can hit face so who really cares if it's cheaper.

N'Zoth is the only 10 even though it didn't add a single deathrattle to the entire deck.

So, it's still a work in progress. Not enough Wild Reno Druids out there to pull data from. Same with the old Druid Quest, I added it and the deck creator didn't add a single card to the deck that can trigger it.

It's a pretty big nerf to warrior.

Warrior will discover Omega Devastator way less now, and Frightened Flunky might have been nerfed even harder (since there were literally 3 warrior taunts, Flunky, Armagedillo, and Tomb Warden).

Other interesting notes:

They changed the way Elise the Enlightened works. (If you had 6+ cards in hand, Used to duplicate random cards in your hand, now duplicates left to right).

Heistbaron Togwaggle probably got better, specifically Zarog's Crown, cause all the Rogue legendaries are like...fucking 2/2s.

Power of Creation also probably got better, since there's several 6 mana mage minions that are like...3/3s.

Archivist Elysiana got a little worse, and a little less class dependent (so E.g. warrior's not likely to discover Omega Devastator in their Elysiana pool anymore).

All good changes TBH.

Its a buff for Elysiana. The #1 thing you want from her is another Elysiana.

Ehh...while the odds of getting class cards has gone down a lot, odds of getting a specific neutral card hasn't increased that much.

There are 378 neutral cards in standard, and 75 warrior cards.

So we're looking at 3/675 under the old system or 3/453 under the new system. 0.44% per discover, or 0.66% per discover. You get 5 discovers, but still...odds of finding an Elysiana went from 2.2% to 3.3%.

So uh, this happened:

https://tinyurl.com/y25ryluf

And Blizzard in particular seems to have given some rather poor advice to Seiko:

Prior to the conflicting events, Seiko asked Blizzard if his Grandmasters matches could be rescheduled so they wouldn't overlap: "I asked them to switch the time [I would be playing at] and if I can try play both if the schedule is not changeable. (...) Of course I asked them. I felt like it would be rude if I didn't."

The schedule couldn't be changed, but Blizzard did respond to his request about playing in both Hearthstone Grandmasters - the flagship of competitive Hearthstone - and the Auto Chess qualifier at the same time. According to Seiko, Blizzard's response was: "Sounds challenging but if anyone could do it, it's probably someone like yourself," which sounds like the Hearthstone Esports team gave Seiko a green light for playing in both tournaments at the same time. They at least didn't tell him it was forbidden.

Given that they seem to have given Seiko permission, I don't think they can punish Seiko for this. However, I really hope they change their policy on this.

Auto Chess has a $1m tournament? People still play it? I was under the impression it was essentially dead when TFT came out.

Also, please tell me he threw as hard in Auto Chess as he did in that Hearthstone match.

Managed to kill the first boss on normal in one cycle (on my second try, but I lost on encounter 7 the first try, so he started from full). My deck abused the treasure where your hero power costs (0) and is refreshed after costing any even-cost card, with Renos default hero power.

Treasures seem very powerful this time around, and Bob has more actions that you can take.

I got wiped on the final boss when it summoned a board of murlocs including two 8/8s and Old Murkeye, and the next two runs I lost on boss seven so I haven't got to whittle it down any more yet. First time around was the guy who switches minions on the board with the hand and he just got nothing but big minions, never really had a chance there. Second time around I chose two of the perks that evolve your minions at the end of your turn, after I had the first there was no way I wasn't taking the second when it was offered, and just got a stretch of unlucky rolls.

Edit: Won on the next run, the boss made a less than intelligent play. He put out an 8/8 on an empty board and immediately killed it with the hero power for a 0/4 taunt, then never played anything else which it could buff. Which was great because my entire board was murlocs after he just played a Plague on the turn before.

Does anyone know what happens when you reach the final boss on the next run? I assume it restarts at 300 with the base hero power.

Double edit: I picked up Zephrys in my final run because my deck had no duplicates at the time, and I didn't realize my mistake until two fights later.

Second wing was a lot easier for me, finished it on my first attempt. I'm not sure the final boss ever had more than ten points of damage on me at once.

The perk that summons a second copy of all legendary minions you play is really good when you take two of them and draft four copies of Grumble, three or four Kangors and about ten other solid legendary minions. After the boss finished using Psychic Scream a couple of times I'm pretty sure I had about 40 copies of 3/4 Crystalsmith Kangors in my deck/hand/field.

Tavern Brawl this week is a new format.

It's basically MtG's Pauper (only commons and rares).

I'm actually quite enjoying it.

First pass, obviously there's a bunch of wild decks you can bring in almost wholesale. Secret mage. Mech hunter. Mech Handbuff Divine Favour Paladin. Basically a big pile of aggro, all of these will get you wins.

But I started wondering if there were slower slightly more anti-aggro decks, and there are!

First one I found was Murloc Shaman. You might be thinking "isn't that an aggro deck?" But in a format with no death knights or anything like that, Underbelly Angler is basically like a death knight, generates so many cards, and a lot of decks aren't really equipped to handle the amount of stats you can get out of Everyfin is Awesome.

Played that for a while, much more success, but ran into a dragon priest and lost, so...

tried that for a while. I totally didn't realize that Duskbreaker was a rare. (Only had one, but screw it, 100 dust, still relevant in wild). Also Priest has a lot of bullshit cards, like potion of madness, Kabal Talonpriest, Northshire Cleric, Power Word Shield, Drakonid Operative....

So...in wild meta reports, Jade Druid usually beats Secret Mage; decided to see if that was true in this tavern brawl and kind-of concluding that no.

Oaken Summons into Vargoth is kind-of a big deal, you don't get DK Malf, and you don't get Branching Paths. That's a lot of armourgain that you're not getting. (And replacing 2x Ultimate Infestation with 2x Overflow is also a step down). I even teched in Chief Inspector to try to help with the matchup; it didn't.

(Jade Druid is...fine, but Secret Mage is not scared of Spreading Plague or starfall or poison seeds, which are the main remaining power cards).
