So lets just leave it at Pumbaas design is baaaaaaaaaaad. I dont care if he looks realistic, its an ugly mess of a design in a movie that already looks bland and uninspired.
Realistic =/= good. I know a really large chunk of the theatre going audience has been conditioned to think animation is inherently a childish thing, and rEfINeD adults can only enjoy live action, or at least brutally lifelike designs to the point of inherent creepiness, (look at half the designs in Beauty and the Beast 2017) but... is this what the future of live action/CGI combinations holds? Is Disney gonna real-ify every remake from now on? I cant wait for live action Hercules, only instead of the title character going to his fathers statue and getting it to come to life right away, he has to first disembowel a lamb to offer it as a sacrifice in a 20 minute long scene. Or live action Little Mermaid, except Flounder looks like an actual flounder. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

It looks boring and uninspired and cynically designed. That doesnt mean it will be bad, but I doubt it's going to wow anyone.

Realistic =/= good. Agreed, but it also doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be bad. I'll probably bring my kids to see it, and judge for myself. Saw Aladdin this past weekend and enjoyed it.
