Like this is the first time it will be ruined? Is this to imply that Star Wars has been completely unscathed up to this point? Star Wars has already been damaged goods for a while, and has been ruined by multiple writers, INCLUDING GEORGE LUCAS himself.
Star Wars seems exactly like the kind of thing to hand over to D&D at this point. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I'm not one of those complaining about it or anything, but I still just wish Disney would spend all that time and money hiring good people to make good SW movies. Yeah, my faith in the series is in the toilet now, but even still I would rather not see it get flushed.

^I mean Star Wars has been nothing but a cash cow for whoever owns it since Return of the Jedi. One of the major reasons Ewoks replaced Wookiees in that movie was so they could sell toys to kids. I mean there was also the struggle to hire a bunch of 7-foot guys to go in the costumes, but making Ewoks marketable to kids was what sealed the deal.

The fear is more ruining this trilogy, not Star Wars as a whole.
I mean, it's justified. They were basically dying to leave GoT, and when Disney approached them with Star Wars, they couldn't even keep up their end of the bargain for season 8. Nonetheless, I am still excited. They otherwise did a pretty good job with GoT even if it started falling apart towards the end. I want to see what a totally unrelated Star Wars movie looks like and I think giving them a sandbox of hundreds, if not thousands of years before the Skywalkers can be very interesting. Better than giving some guy who seemed like he didn't know what he was doing, the 8th movie in the franchise. --- "Scranton is great, but New York is like Scranton on acid. No, on speed. Nah. Its a pretty famous quote by C.S. Lewis based on a well-known verse in The Bible. Yeah and it's out of place here. The quote is supposed to be about not worrying about what others think about your hobbies and interests, that part of growing up is focusing on yourself and not on others (especially those who would call something childish as an insult). Meanwhile, his post (at least to me) was more that Star Wars has never really been "that good" of a series and that people can enjoy it, but at the end of the day should accept that a series made for children is always going to have a hurdle to cross that more mature franchises don't have, despite what some fans believe. As such, your quote doesn't really click here. --- There are some things where I just bypass critical thinking. - ROD ... Copied to Clipboard!

Here's some interesting speculation on this, which is probably correct.
The current rumor is that Rian Johnson's trilogy is canceled. Back in February, a rumor came out saying it was canceled and he responded by saying it was BS. This time when the new trilogy dates were revealed, a bunch of rumors came, with one of them saying that D&D's trilogy is what was announced. Not a week later, Disney confirmed it was their movies. Where am I going with this? Another rumor that came from the same place was that this trilogy is what Rian Johnson was always talking about and that now he might just serve as a consultant for D&D. Same person also confirmed the original rumors from February were indeed BS. Guess Disney wasn't happy with TLJ either lol. --- "Scranton is great, but New York is like Scranton on acid. Yeah, my bad, I took your original post as criticizing the series but looking back it was really just the diehard fans you were going after.
Anyway, I wish George Lucas had had JK Rowlings philosophy. Lucas says (in response to backlash about Jar Jar Binks, lol), the first movie was for kids, therefore the movie I make thirty years later is for kids. Rowling, on the other hand, had the Harry Potter books mature with its audience (and protagonist). Kids who read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer (Philosopher)'s Stone were out of college by the time the series ended. And she knew that, and acknowledged it. Deathly Hallows wasn't filled with blood and sex, but it had much more mature themes then Sorcerer's Stone. Can you imagine reading the later books if they were done in the same tone as SS? They would have been insipid. --- "It's basically just a stuffed animal at that point." -Tyranthraxus ... Copied to Clipboard!

I'm not even really complaining about die hard fans, just the people who...really don't get it?
Like I've heard a lot of people complain that they are going to dumb down the Old Republic stuff and make it "kiddy" and I'm just like...yeah. All of the Star Wars main films have been geared towards children. That's not to say that adults can't enjoy them or that it is like Sesame Street stuff, but the idea that there is going to be a mature Star Wars movie is laughable. There's books and games and stuff if you need that "mature" Star Wars I guess, but the films (or at least the mainline films) are always going to be geared more towards "everyone" which means it will primarily be geared towards children. I see this being true for all of the films going forward since they don't seem to be doing the "star wars" stories like Solo and Rogue One anymore. And I know someone will say "What about Revenge of the Sith" and like...yeah, it was darker but I wouldn't exactly call the writing in that mature by any stretch. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah, it kinda sucks. A deeper Star Wars film would be fun to see. Im wondering how theyre going to market the KOTOR series the vast majority of their audience has probably never even heard of the games, right?
It actually feels eerily similar to the announced GoT prequel. Both are set thousands of years before the main series, but because of the business side of things both will probably look like they are set in the same era as their main series, respectively. Which is unfortunate. --- "It's basically just a stuffed animal at that point." -Tyranthraxus ... Copied to Clipboard!
