I actually have a reliable Syldra clear with Zack CSB and Bartz&Squall AASBs. I just haven't tried them against ice-weak Odin. Maybe I should attempt it one of these days; preferably before I blow all my mythril chasing Laguna CSB on VIII-2.

This week's event is the FF1 which sadly has an absolutely terrible banner (just 1 awakening, and the only chain is a realm chain... AND it's on WOL who is probably most people's best DPS for FF1).

After that we have:
- FF VIII
- Black Chocobo Ice event
- FF II
- FF XV
- FF VII (would be Sept 26, but might get pushed back due to fest)

With the FF7 event they started a new thing where banner 2 has two guaranteed 5*+ instead of one. The quality of banner 2 is still generally lower than b1, but I think it might be a really good value. Banner 1s also improve at that point to having 10 6* and only 4 5*. I was thinking of drawing on 8 and or BC Ice, but I'm starting to think it's better to just save for the new format (and a few pulls on fest, but this fest is mostly underwhelming).

What sucks is that there's no FF1 event in the foreseeable future, but people in Japan are sub30ing the D??? Torment with Lightning and Cloud synchros. That's pretty sad that general powercreep has overwhelmed it before FF1 got up to date banners.

Yeah, it sucks. Personally I'm not going to do it with an off realm team because that kinda defeats the whole purpose. But as far as I can tell the only chances in the next 6 months to get anything for FF1 are Garland's awakening in the next fest, and WOL's awakening in the black chocobo: Holy event.

Meia gets an awakening too next fest, but yeah other than that FF1 is barren as far as we can tell.

It's pretty bad when some people use Thief without any relics for him since doublecast Thief LM2 alone is one of the better DPS options in that realm.

Well that Dreams dungeon was really annoying, granted it was more of the realm sucking than the boss being hard. Matoya disappoints again even though she's the only one with a DPS USB I have, I was better off replacing her with Thief with just his BSB.

Yeah, my usual strategy of Cloud+Zack and 3 realm characters didn't work because Serah wasn't good enough at keeping anyone alive. Maybe I should have tried the same team but with Matoya as a dedicated second healer. Or else I need to figure out some other team that can run Elarra and still have enough damage to win.

I beat the Zombie Dragon with Warrior of Light, Garland, Sarah, Thief and Wol. My relics were lousy but they got the job done. Thief BSB and command 2 lowered his defense so that 6* physical abilities did about 7000 per hit. WoL and Garland used their BSBs for infusion and cap with it, WoL is an entrustbot and battery'd Sarah so she could keep using her BSB to keep the party alive.

I took down Zombie Dragon d350. My off realm characters were Elarra and Celes, I used WOL's Holy chain and Celes's awakening to get the job done. Matoya buffed and healed, Wol entrusted.

Yeah, I have plenty of rubies for every ability but there are a few I haven't bothered with yet. The ice shooter one would be useful for Noel but I don't know if I'm going to pull on that banner at all yet.

Pulled Rinoa's enEarth LMR on the daily... the only LMR for her that I already have. I would have loved to have gotten her doublecast or enIce LMR :(

Would love Clouds enwind LMR, which is not in anima lenses unfortunately. Two 5*s in a row off of the daily, both uniques, Agrias and Freyas. Already had a 7* kaiser shield, but for a unique, its fairly decent.

Been playing this very sparingly recently, but getting back into it, as I want to complete all the 5* magicites, and then get further into the torments. Still only beaten and sub30ed three of them (Madeen, Lakshmi, Deathgaze), but I know i have the tools for Heca, and then maybe Phoenix and Famfrit. Just need to fully level a few of the 4*s to fill the deck, then start accumulating 5*s and such.

I'm way behind on my 20 magicite mission for the month and farming 5* is a pain so I made my first magicite autobattle team. It's basically just a de-optimized version of my wind-weak Odin team (removing lifesiphon and extra SBs) and it worked pretty well to crush Midgardsormr!

Farming Madeen has been fairly easy, just need to make sure that Elarra doesn't get a DC curada on her second turn, because it normally heals Seph, and I need him to not get healed so he gets tranced by savage terra homing in P1

I always tend to get my monthly 20 magicite done early, Noctis tears through Famfrit like wet tissue so farming inheritance fodder isn't an issue.

However I do need to get the last 3 Deathgazes and some more Syldra, also the fest should be next month so I'll need some Magicite to level up during the orb feast.

I also got a rainbow off the daily today. A old shared holy rod. Well I could use more rainbow crystals...

Ugh Deathgaze is still a major pain, now I wish I got Warrior of Light's AOSB off the dream select. Fuck that last phase!

Well I swapped Aerith for Tyro and went "no healer" and it seems to be a little more consistent. Orlandeau with double Healing Smite, WoL's chain entry and Tyro USB1 were enough healing to get by, plus Tyro USB1 prevents the phase 3 blindness. I even got a sub 30 (granted you need to nearly sub30 him before the dooms gets you unless you're lucky enough with Affliction Break)

Finished my monthly magicite mission. Surprisingly my auto wind team was good enough to sub-30 Heca (just barely). He hits you a lot, which makes the auto script use your SBs way too often, especially Zack's chain. He cast his chain two turns in a row at the end of the fight which is pretty bad. So I guess next month I can auto that one if I need to for better rewards.

Not clear yet whether they're going to be a modified version of the same boss, or different bosses, but I'm hoping for new bosses. They will also have Savage modes like Magicites do.

Booooo harder torments. Though I do get why they exist since Realm synergy is mostly moot at that point since synchros powercreept D???. But still having to update 17 teams with better relics is gonna suck!

I'd rather just have regular events and record dungeons get buffed to 5* Magicite~ difficulty, it sucks how team restricted the top content is but everything else is like Chrono Trigger difficulty to current relics, artifacts, abilities ect.

Personally I like having the torments there and not having pressure to finish them quickly. I kind of love the current system where events are super easy because some weeks I just don't have time or motivation for a tough battle but I don't want to miss out on rewards. But the Torments and Magicites are a cool yardstick for seeing your teams improve over time.

It is kinda disappointing if it's going to be just another difficulty level of the same fight. But adding savage modes makes it sound like the mechanics are going to be at least somewhat different.

Anyone drawing on this banner? I'm conflicted because I don't really need the help for VIII that much but it's a really good banner and I like Rinoa.

Banner 2 is good but I already have both those chains, so banner 1 is way better for me.

Sub-30ed the VIII torment. Not a very clean run, but still done. I tried the Squall BSB+AASB gimmick, but I think I would have been better off just using the awakening with Snowspell Strike into AOSB, because I wasted too much time setting up and didn't even have the AASB off until around 18s or so.

8/17 torments sub-30, 9 to go.

1/11 - Rinoa LMR (small chance DC black magic)

I mean, it's not awful, but it's definitely not one of the better prizes.

And it's definitely not a good way to spend 50 mythril.

I drew Tifa's unique today.

Been trying to beat Ice-weak Odin, but it's getting frustrating. My first team was Squall, Celes, Laguna, Elarra, and Tyro. It wasn't getting me there and my biggest problem was not getting the AOSBs off during the first chain, so I had to refresh the chain right around the time phase 3 started, and then if I got them off at all they were doing like 32k per hit or so. So I tried replacing Tyro with Raijin to get more turns in at the cost of losing the crit fix. Overall it worked pretty well, but I'm still getting to the 3rd phase and not being able to finish the job, and I realized the crit fixing is more needed in the last phase which is the hardest part, so I think I'm going back to Tyro. Not quite desperate enough to spend lenses on Laguna's USB1 yet but that might be next if I get frustrated enough. Also I'm not sure if getting any artifacts would help... everyone's already using a 6* +ice sword. (Squall and Celes both have 6+ actually)

Do you have Laguna SSB? If you don't, that's a budget option if you don't want to spend Lvl 3 lenses.

I do have it. So yeah, that makes his USB1 into a really marginal upgrade... basically useless in the Raijin version of the team, but a little useful in the Tyro version of the team since Elarra doesn't always have fastcast up. Guess I should go for artifacts first since those are much more plentiful, and maybe get the 3% bonus from their Spellblade spheres since those motes aren't that scarce now.

What was your order like approximately? Did you chain once or twice?

Rinoa is a bit better Ice DPS than Celes, if you can get past the awkwardness of a mixed team. She has en-ice on her Awakening and has a 5 hit black magic spell and a 6 hit witch spell to work with, when Celes just has 4 hit Snowspell Strike.

I chained twice, though I almost needed to do a third time if Rinoa didn't dualcast for the kill.

My starts are pretty simple. Laguna imperils, chains, USB1, then refreshes chain, glints at the third phase so he can do some damage in the third phase. Squall builds meter with Lifesiphon for a couple of turns, uses glint, then USB2, then Awakening (that way he stays strong in the third phase with 3 stacks of enIce) Rinoa spams chain Blizzaja, then her brave USB, and uses her brave to break savage modes so Squall can do more damage. Squall and Rinoa use their AOSBs before the first chain ends to get as much damage as they can with it.

Kinda boring maintenance, but ROP (probably) starts on 9/9, Fest starts on 9/26. I'm not really sure whether ROP is worth it this time, I'm going to make a case by case decision based on the % of AASB and gen 2 chains I don't have.

I knew I had the tools (Zack chain, Zidane awakening, cloud USB 1/2 and AOSB), just had to jump in and give it a shot. Used tyro USB4 AFTER Cloud USB1, which messed with his crits, so that wasnt ideal. Didnt even trance Zidane until the end.

4/16 defeated and sub30ed. Afraid to try the lightning ones, as I dont have an earth chain, but I think Phoenix is one I can try

Anyone pulling on the chain banner? Somehow the only one on here that I really want is Ramza's. Lightning would be a moderate upgrade for physical (I have Kain, Garnet, Shantotto, and Reno chains already), wind would be redundant with Alphinaud which I have, and the others are realm chains.
