For those of you dont know, it's a new thing. It's a bar / arcade.

In a way, it's nice because at some places it's $10-20 for unlimited plays.

In a way it is kind of annoying though because there are a lot of hipsters there trying to be cool because they think that video games are "in" now. Also, there's lots of little kiddies (my word for people in their 20's that act like teens) who like to start screaming just because they had one or two beers.

Kinda on the fence. It's something to do, but there are certain ones I would never go back to.

They're cool until you realize that most older arcade games are pretty trash. I wouldn't go regularly but every now is fun

yeah this. but it's way more fun if you have friends who regularly play fighters and stuff, because drinking and fighting games is always a good time

Nice idea, terrible in practice.

Imagine all the shitty things you remember about arcades and add loud drunk people and spilled drinks on/near the machines.

I've been to cool ones (Ground Kontrol in Portland, Insert Coins in Vegas) and I've been to lame ones (Dave and Busters/Gameworks). The more bar-y, 21+ environment ones are the cooler ones tbh.

Depends on the one you go to. I've been to ones all over the country. The one in Phoenix was garbage. Dallas has one or two decent ones. Rhode Island has a pretty good one.

I think it depends on the games they have. Some of the old beat em ups were good. I usually like to play those and Wrestlefest, TMNT, Simpsons, XMen. The good 2 player games. My wife plays those too. I wouldn't say all old games were trash. Which barcade did you go to?

I've gone to some in Michigan and Chicago but I think a problem with them is that a lot of the cabinets are old as hell so the buttons or sticks aren't the best quality. For example, I tried playing NBA Jam with my buddy and I couldn't move up at all when picking a team.

Well, I meant the ones that are more like Bars. Dave and Busters is a family environment / restaurant kind of place. You can by beer there, but it's not really just a bar.

There used to be one when I was a kid called Jokers pizza. My father would go there to drink with his pals and they had arcade games there like Street Fighter 2.

Its not new, weve had one here in Minneapolis for three years now.

On topic, I like it when its not busy. It does make me grimace heavily when I see fuckos slamming buttons and spilling booze all over cabinets. My old man used to spruce up old ones as a hobby. Plus some of the machines are decades old!

Oh hey how's the online dating going?

I didnt mean that video games should be an exclusive club, just think it's kind of annoying how people try to act like they are in a club when they go to those. The point of going to an arcade used to be to get away from those environments

I like the one in my city. Good beer selection, good mix of old and new arcade games, and they serve some decent pizza. Not worth going Friday or Saturday nights, way too busy and they get a "bro" crowd due to the general location. I only really go if I I have a ton of quarters saved up.

Yeah sometimes they can make it a little better but for the most part they just say that the machine is old so you gotta just use more force or something like that.

There's a decent one near me called 16-bit. Everything except pinball is free because those are nice new machines. The selection is pretty good. There's plenty of beat em ups, fighters and jam/blitz.

It's a nice novelty place to go to but honestly trying to play old 80s-90s arcade games isn't as fun as I'd like. Gaming has come a long way. My arcade stick skills are long gone. Drinking with friends can happen just about anywhere.
