You turn right to go West while Raven turns left to go East.

You look around as far as you can see in the moonlight. It shines off the deep waters further South, but you don't see any boats out there. But where else could he be if not out that deep? Though, perhaps Raven's half...

Your communicator rings and you pick up.

"Found him?" you ask at the same time she says, "Found him."

You have Shadowfax take a big U-Turn and kick it up a notch towards the East side.

"What's he doing?" you ask her.

"He's on a boat," she says.

"But we didn't see any off the pier," you say.

"That's because his boat is a tiny rowboat," she explains. "And, I think he's with some girl."

"Oh well then that makes it alright," you say.

"Does it?" Raven asks.

"No it doesn't make it alright!" you say. "He could've just asked this girl to join us for dinner."

"But it's too late now. Let's just go back."

"Are you sure?" Raven asks. "Shouldn't we tell them they're at least kinda messing up the dinner?"

"He already knows he's done that," you say. "There's no point in ruining his night and making him dislike me further."

You turn to the coast and drive back onto the pier. Raven flies over and hops on the back of Shadowfax. The two of you drive back to the Xenos Family home after having called everyone about Jonas.

"A girl?" Jacintha says. "He's never mentioned this to us."

"Maybe he doesn't think you'll like her," Nella says.

"Why did you look at me specifically?" Jacintha grumbles.

"Well this will be your family's issue," you smirk at your cousin and aunt.

"How about some dessert?" you ask Raven.

"Sure," she says. "What were you going to have?"

"Not sure," you say. "I need to see what there is."

You go back to the kitchen and look in the large freezer.

"Oooh, some nice choices for ice cream," you say.

You bring out a few flavors and an ice cream scooper as you make some

You pull out two tall glasses and set them on the table.

"Let's go with a chocolate float," you say as you scoop the fudge ice cream.

"Mmm~," she says.

You put a hefty scoop in each of the glasses and then pour plenty of root beer. You go looking for straws while Raven sticks a spoon in one.

"Ah, here we are," you say. "They're even bendy straws."

You hand Raven one and she extends it. She sticks the straw in and starts sipping and you follow. The two of you return to the dining room area to sit and sip.

"So," Raven says after a few minutes. "Our roadtrip of all the spooky spots of the States. Where should we start?"

"Well, we'll be landing in Florida," you say. "Maybe we can go to Universal Studios and their haunted house attraction."

"First, that's only for Halloween season," Raven says. "We're still a few months from that."

"Oh."

"Second, that's just pretend," Raven continues. "We need real scary things! Things that are legitimately haunted and supernatural!"

"Oh, right, of course," you say. "What was I thinking?"

"Oh c'mon," Raven says. "You agreed to it, now you have to follow through. If there isn't anywhere that good in Florida, then it's either Alabama or Georgia as we head back North. And then we need to figure out where to go next after that."

"We could just wait until we get to Florida," you say.

"Or we could map it out now while we're not in a rush," Raven says.

"Or we could wait until Florida."

"Or we could get it down now."

You and Raven stare down, but then laugh.

"Fine, fine," you say. "We'll map out at least the first leg of our trip."

"Let's go to Alabama," you say. "It'll also help us make some progress westward."

"Right," Raven says. "Into Mississippi for the Devil of the Delta Crossroads, the ghosts of Natchez, and the mass grave of the Mississippi State Asylum in Jackson. And from there, Louisiana for not only their Museum of Death, but a look at the LaLaurie Mansion, both in New Orleans."

"What's so special about the LaLaurie Mansion?" you ask, already dreading the answer.

"When local police responded to a kitchen fire in 1834, they discovered the bodies of several horribly mutilated slaves in the attic," Raven says. "When the public learned of LaLauries grotesque secret, a mob stormed the house, prompting her to flee to France. Soon after LaLaurie disappeared from New Orleans, people claimed to hear the phantom screams of her victims spilling from the house in the dead of night."

"Could you not say all that with an excited look on your face...?" you ask. "Also, after Louisiana, let's try moving North. I've already passed through Texas once, I don't need to go there again."

"Then we'll go into Arkansas," Raven says. "We might even be able to stay in the Arlington Hotel, which already just looks spooky at times with its old-style architecture. Then from Arkansas we can go to Oklahoma for the 'Hex House' in Tulsa."

"Then from there," you say, "we should try..."

"Colorado," you say. "I'd love to see the mountains, even at this time of year."

"And Estes Park, Colorado has the Stanley Hotel!" Raven says. "It inspired Stephen King's The Shining. Wow, we can stay in two famous haunted hotels on the same trip!"

"Or we could stay in a Holiday Inn or something and visit the Stanley Hotel," you suggest.

Raven gives you an "Oh you" smirk.

"Right, what was I thinking?" you say. "The Stanley Hotel it is."

"Right," Raven smiles. "Oh, can we go to Four Corners? Where all those states meet?"

"Certainly," you say. "I didn't pass through there the last time, so we can go there, and even use it to transfer into Utah or Arizona."

"Let's go with Arizona for the Yuma Territorial Prison," she says. "It's a historical park now."

"Well, alright," you say. "And then perhaps a stop in Nevada? I don't think there's anything in Vegas we can really do being we're both still under 18, but maybe we can see a show."

"Can we go up into Oregon, too?" Raven asks. "The Timberline Lodge is the movie version of the hotel in The Shining."

"Three spooky hotels in one trip," you say. "How wonderful."

"Yes it is," she smirks again. "But I'm sure we can find something you'd enjoy."

She then looks at you with a suspicious squint but still smirking.

"I wasn't going to suggest anything like that," you say. "But perhaps there's somewhere along the way we could go to a baseball game."

"Really? Baseball?"

"Well why not?" you say. "I hear watching in person is a lot more fun."

"I dunno," she says. "But you are letting me have a lot on this road trip, so I guess I should give you one baseball game. Where would we go see one?"

"Well we probably won't have time while in Florida," you say, "unless there just happens to be one the day we arrive. So perhaps we should try for..."

"Colorado. Of the states we'll be passing through, it's one of the few with a baseball team, and we might as well try in the Mile High City."

"Alright," Raven says as she makes note of that. "Baseball in Colorado."

You and Raven finish up your floats, using the spoons to get what little bits of ice cream are on the bottom.

"Good night, everyone," you say to the Xenos Family.

"Good night, you two," Jacintha says.

"See you bright and early in the morning," you say to Raven.

"Night," Raven smiles before you give her a kiss on the cheek.

The two of you wash up and head for your rooms to turn in for the night.

Early the next morning, you and Raven quickly but quietly take turns showering and packing up your luggage. The two of you go to the garage and to Shadowfax. You walk Shadowfax out and to the street, and only then power up the engine for you and Raven to ride for the airport.

You arrive at the airport with plenty of time, and go around to the back. You have the flight crew load Shadowfax onto the plane and then go to the proper check-in for passengers. After being scanned by the metal detectors, you're allowed on the plane with your carry-on of your Magi-Pocket knapsack.

The passengers board the plane, and you find your seats in the very middle of the middle row. You put the knapsack in the overhead compartment and sit on the left. About ten minutes later, the plane starts moving, and everyone buckles up.

Once the plane is in the air, everyone is free to move about the cabin. The flight attendants walk about to ask for meal orders.

"Proin?" the attendant asks.

"Nai," you nod.

"choume dimitriak, pligori vrmis, bagels kai ntnats."

Bagels was the most obvious in that, and "ntnats" sounds almost exactly like "donuts." You're very confident the first two options are cereal and oatmeal, in that order.

"Bagels," you say. "Um... Elafrs fryganismno, tyr krma, parakalome."

"Amsos," the attendant says with a nod.

The attendant walks back to the kitchen, and Raven taps your shoulder.

"So, bagels and...?"

"Lightly toasted with cream cheese," you say.

"Oh okay," she says. "I'm fine with that."

The two of you only wait a few minutes and the attendant is back with the bagels.

"Efcharist," you nod as you take the plates.

"Oh!" the attendant says as you hand one to Raven. "Anapsyktik?"

"Drinks," you whisper to a curious Raven.

"Oh," Raven whispers back.

"Umm..." you say to the attendant.

"Tsi."

"Mlo, lemni, vanlia?" the attendant asks.

"Lemni," you say.

The attendant nods and leaves for the kitchen again. You and Raven eat your warm bagels while you wait.

The attendant returns with two teacups of lemon tea, and you hand one to Raven.

"Efcharist," you say again.

"Parakal," the attendant nods before going to other passengers.

"Mmm!" Raven says. "Sweet, and sour. Definitely lemon."

"Mm, definitely," you say after sipping it for yourself. "So, with a long, long flight ahead of us, we've got a lot of down time."

"How about we watch a movie?"

"Alright," she says with a shrug. "Let's see what they've got."

The two of you bring down a little screen attached overhead, and press a button to turn it out. You tap the screen, but nothing happens, so it's apparently not a touch screen.

"Oh, there are buttons," you say.

You press on a directional pad but it's a bit tricky with it being upside-down. You eventually get to the plane's menu of digitally downloaded movies and scroll through.

"Let's go by genre," Raven says. "Maybe s-"

"We're not doing scary movies, you're getting an entire roadtrip for that."

"I wasn't going to suggest scary movies," Raven defends with a smirk. "I was going to say, 'something calm.' If we're laughing too much, we'll be disturbing the other passengers."

"Ah, yes, that is true," you say. "So nothing too funny, like a pure comedy. And... hopefully there are headphones or something, we wouldn't want the movie itself upsetting the other passengers."

You go to action movies, but try to find something with few explosions and gun shots. That's hard to find these days.

"Umm, I don't see any headphones under here," Raven says as she rummages under her seat.

You look under your seat a moment, and don't find anything, either. You sit back up and press the button to call a flight attendant over. The attendant from before returns.

"Akoustik?" you ask, motioning your hands on your ears as if you're putting headphones on.

"Oh, akoustik, na, na," the attendant nods. "Mia stigm."

The attendant goes back to the kitchen area, then returns a few moments later with two admittedly cheap headphones.

"Efcharist," you say again as you take them.

The attendant checks in with other passengers while you and Raven find the headphone jacks. You plug in and thankfully the cords are long enough. You scroll more and finally choose...
